Small-time Bollywood actress Huma Khan, of Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Saath Saath Hain fame, and a male acquaintance have been arrested on allegations of kidnapping, rape and criminal intimidation of a minor girl, police said today.
The 12-year-old victim was working as a maid servant in the actress' household at Bhayendar in the neighbouring district of Thane, police said.
Khan and her male acquaintance had taken the victim to Pune, where the latter allegedly raped her, they said.
Both the accused were arrested yesterday, police said, adding that the actress has been charged with kidnapping and attempt to murder while the acquaintance has been booked for rape.
Khan featured in a string of C-grade films in the late 80s and 90s. She was seen in many horror films made by the Ramsay brothers.
The starlet, who has not been there in the Bollywood scene for sometime now, has been sent to five days of judicial custody after being charged by the Mira Road police.
The lead actress of Murder 2 Jacqueline Fernandez is full of praises for Mallika Sherawat.
She told reporters “I have seen Murder and I loved Mallika’s performance. I think she is extremely daring and that’s something we can all learn from her.”
The actress, who belongs to Sri Lankan origin said, “As an actress, it’s so nice to see someone so bold, so daring and so brave and I think that’s what she stands for, which is great.”
Jacqueline will be seen doing intimate scenes with Emraan Hashmi in the sequel of Murder. She added “When you get into a field like acting, a lot of other things become immaterial. So if the role and the script demands something, you do it.”
She was earlier seen in films like “Aladin” and “Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai” and will also be seen in the sequel of Houseful.
In what is seen as a daring daylight kidnap. The General Manager of Sathyam computers, Sathyanarayana is said to have been kidnapped by some unidentified persons this morning. He had gone to a school at Begumpet to drop the kids and he did not return. The driver got suspicious and reported the matter to his wife.
The reason for the kidnap is not known but it is said to be a financial deal that is behind the kidnap. It has become quite common in Hyderabad today, particularly for those in the real estate business. Professional goons are on the prowl and rich businessmen are being kidnapped wither for ransom or in connection with land settlements.
The police rescued him from the clutches of his kidnappers late in th night from their hideout at Nekonda village in Warangal district. Four kidnappers have also been taken into custody.
2007/9/5 21:35:27 It was a victory of sorts for the media. A young boy, Rohit was kidnapped by some unidentified people from his residence on Tuesday. The kidnap incident was widely reported in the media. A section of the electronic media also highlighted this story on their networks and raised awareness about it. The media efforts have resulted in a positive response. The people were alerted and the kidnapers had no chance but to abandon the boy and flee. The boy was abandoned near Khammam and the police have now taken custody of the boy. It is due to the efforts by the electronic media that the kidnap issue came to a happy ending.
We had told you last month that Ajay Devgan plays a character with a surname Khan in Rajkumar Santoshi's much awaited HALLA BOL. In fact Ajay's full name in the movie is Sameer Khan, and he plays an actor.
A section of the media also feels that there is a touch of the infamous Jessica Lal murder in the Ajay Devgan-Vidya Balan starrer. He plays an unprincipled star in HALLA BOL, who is a prime witness to a high profile murder, where the witnesses turn hostile but ultimately it is Ajay, who finds his conscience and decides to reveal the truth in the court, against all odds.
Even flops breed sequels in Bollywood now. The Bhatts have already announced Murder 3 as their next project. Though Murder 2 got panned by the critics, the Bhatts seem to have decided to stick to the lethal
combination of sex, violence and horror for many more films to come. Says co-producer Mukesh Bhatt, “This is an original franchise owned by Vishesh films and we are not going to let go of it. There will most certainly be a Murder 3 and we will soon be announcing the cast for the same.”
Murder 3 is expected to go on the floors next year.
Predictably enough, the homespun affair will have Emraan Hashmi essaying the lead again. “Yes, I have already been informed about the film by Bhatt saab,” confirms the actor.
However, we will have to wait a while longer to know who will be stepping into Jacqueline Fernandes’ shoes.
A source reveals, “The Bhatts have already started getting feelers from those who want to be a part of the franchise. But they are in no hurry. However, one thing’s for sure: There won’t be a seven-year-long wait, as was the case with Murder 2.”
Director Rajkumar Santoshi's latest film about the murder of an actress may seem familiar, but the A-list filmmaker says it is not based on the 1999 killing of a model by a politician's son.
Halla Bol, starring Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan, revolves around the murder of an actress by a group of influential men who use their political clout to cover up the crime.
After a seven-year highly publicised trial, Manu Sharma, the son of an influential member of ruling Congress Party was convicted of shooting model and celebrity bartender Jessica Lall at a crowded New Delhi bar in 1999.
Several media reports have said Halla Bol apparently is based on the shooting.
"Though the plot maybe similar to the true incident, my film is not inspired by it," he said referring to Lall's murder.
"The film is about an actor who thought he was a sort of a hero for the people and then realises one fine day when the actress is murdered that he is nothing but a screen identity. It is a story about how he stands up and fights for the actress against powerful people of society who try to silence his voice," said Santoshi.

Jiva and Srikanth kidnaps Ileana who was in bridal get up and hero Vijay will come to her rescue in this shot. Kollywood actor Satya Raj is acting as Ileana’s father. Vijay and Ileana are playing the lead roles.

Jacqueline Fernandez has no qualms about skin show
Ever since she stepped into the sizzling shoes of actress Mallika Sherawat for the sequel of the film Murder 2, actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been causing a lot of buzz as she’s better known for her demure, good girl image.
But the Sri Lankan beauty is far from being nervous or apprehensive about being compared to Sherawat’s sensual act. “It’s absolutely okay if comparisons are made. Besides, it’s natural to be compared to Mallika because she did the film Murder, and I’m doing the sequel. I have never met Mallika and I don’t know her personally, but from what I’ve seen of her, I think she is a good actress.”
Fernandez is also unfazed by the fact that the film will have a lot of skin-show and intimate scenes. “I have been a model and done many photo-shoots and shows so I am the most comfortable with my body. Plus as actors, these scenes are always a part of a story. There are 50 -100 crew members when we shoot these scenes, so it’s all work and no play!”
But did she have any apprehensions before she took on the project and she brushes it aside, “Not at all. Murder 2 is a very interesting story; it’s backed by the Bhatts who are known to make good quality film. Mohit is a good director, Emi is a good actor, and there was no reason to have apprehensions.”
Fernandezis looking forward to what the audience’s reaction to her pairing with actor Emraan Hashmi. “I feel we have good chemistry on screen,” she says.

The congress chief Sonia Gandhi will formally inaugurate the airport on March 14. The GNR group which has built the airport and manages the airport has proposed to levy user charges at the rate of Rs 700 per passenger. But following widespread protests, the group has decided to keep it in abeyance for some time.
But the airport will collect user charges from international passengers. The charges will be at the rate of $25 per passenger. This is the highest at any airport being collected at any airport in the world. The charges at Dubai are Rs. 330, while at Singapore it is Rs. 612. Even at Heathrow, the charges are less than 1,000. But from April 1 they will go up slightly and the new charges will be Rs. 1044. That is about 44 rupees more than Shamshabad. Fardeen Khan charged with attempting to buy cocaine
Mumbai, Oct 4 (IANS) A Mumbai court Tuesday found actor Fardeen Khan guilty of attempting to buy cocaine in a case dating to 2001 but dropped charges of posessing over two grams of the drug. The sentence will be pronounced Nov 2 and the actor could find himself behind bars for six months.
"Now, I have been charged only for attempting to buy cocaine. Charges pertaining to the possession of cocaine have been dropped," Khan told reporters outside the court.
"This is something we have been appealing to the court for the last 10 years. I am extremely happy about how things are going," he added.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested Khan in Juhu in northwest Mumbai May 5, 2001 on charges of possessing cocaine. Nasir Shaikh who allegedly sold him the drug and Tony Gomes who allegedly supplied it to Shaikh were also arrested.
Charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Khan had, however, claimed that he had attempted to buy only one gram of cocaine as against NCB claim that nine grams of cocaine was found on him and Shaikh.
According to the NDPS Act, less than two gm is considered a small quantity. Under the act, an accused can, at the maximum, face a six-month jail term for possession of a small quantity of drugs.
Yesteryears Bollywood star Zeenat Aman, who campaigned for D.P. Yadav, Uttar Pradesh's controversial politician who has a number of criminal cases against him, has turned to help the Congress now.
Zeenat was roped in to campaign for the Congress by party president Sonia Gandhi's close confidante and Union Minister of State for Steel Akhilesh Das for the assembly polls and she was campaigning in the state capital - the stronghold of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Zeenat as late as April 15 had been campaigning for Yadav, who has a long list of criminal cases against him, ranging from murder, kidnapping, extortion and even charges under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA).
Das was at his wit's end when a scribe confronted the 1970s star with a query about her campaign for Yadav - in news recently as father of Vikas Yadav, the key accused in the sensational Nitish Katara murder case, who is presently serving a sentence in jail in the Jessica Lall murder case.
"Well, Zeenat is not a Congress member. She went to campaign for D.P. Yadav in her personal capacity, so it's not fair to ask her about that," pleaded Das after literally snatching the mike from the visibly embarrassed actress.
Zeenat said: "Well, I have personal relations with D.P. Yadav and his family, so I went there."
Yadav, who is the president of his outfit Rashtriya Parivartan Dal, was contesting for the Sehaswan seat in Budaun district, which went to polls April 18 during the third round of the seven-phased Uttar Pradesh elections.
Addressing roadside rallies in Budaun last week, Zeenat reportedly went to the extent of describing D.P. Yadav as "a well-meaning human being who would take good care of the electorate".
Ironically, Congress leaders were then busy listing the long dossier of charges against Yadav.
It was no surprise that Zeenat failed to draw any crowds in the city. "I wonder why the Congress is still living in the 1970s," quipped a Lucknow University student.
She campaigned mainly for Sushil Dubey who was handpicked by Das for the Lucknow (West) constituency.
Interestingly, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla Saturday brought yet another Bollywood actress, Celina Jaitley, to campaign for the party.
Congressmen who were hopeful of exploiting Jaitley's Lucknow connections - she belongs to the city - were in for a disappointment as she failed to make any impact beyond hitting headlines in some local dailies.
2011/10/26 13:37:49 An under-trial prisoner who managed to escape from the police custody after being admitted in a hospital was arrested at his home in less than four hours.
According to police, the under-trial in a murder case - Afsar Khan was shifted from Chanchalguda Jail to the Osmania General Hospital at about 10.50 pm on Tuesday night. He reportedly consumed some unknown pills in the prison and had to be shifted to the OGH. He was admitted in the MM-2 of the OGH. However, on Wednesday morning at about 10 am, he gave a slip to police constables Srinivas and Muralidhar and escaped from the hospital on the pretext of going to toilet.
Since Afsar Khan was an under-trial, he was not in prison uniform and was not even handcuffed. He comfortably walked out of the hospital without being noticed. However, the constables sounded alert after realising his escape and immediately informed the Afzalgunj police station about it.
However, the police did not have to struggle hard to trace him. After escaping from the hospital Afsar Khan directly went to his home at Falaknuma and was caught again at about 1 pm. He was brought to the Afzalgunj police station and now faces a fresh case of escaping from the police custody. (INN)
Mallika Sherawat is the sexiest, says Jacqueline Fernandez
Actress Jacqueline Fernandez knows that there are bound to be comparisons between her and actor Mallika Sherawat. Firstly, because she is replacing her in the sequel of Murder and secondly, it seems she is trying to outdo the sex siren, starting from her daring acts in the promos of the film itself. Butthe actress (as her friends fondly refer to her as) says that it doesn’t make her nervous at all.
“Yes, there are bound to be comparisons between Mallika and me. That is normal. I am acting in a sequel to a movie that she has done and, of course, she has done a wonderful job. But no, that is not making me nervous,” says a confident Jacqueline. The sequel, she insists, is totally different from the first installment in terms of treatment and storyline. “So there cannot be any comparisons,” she adds.
Murder was reportedly inspired from the Hollywood film Unfaithful with some scenes being too similar to ignore. So, is Murder 2 inspired by Hollywood too? “I don’t think so. I think Murder 2 is original. This film doesn’t take off from where the original story ends. It’s a totally different film and I think the first cut is looking great,” she says.
Didn’t Jacqueline feel uncomfortable getting cosy with her co-star Emraan Hashmi who has earned himself a reputation of being a ‘serial-kisser’? “You know, when you do those (love-making) scenes, the only thing that crosses through your mind is that you will have to get it right,” says the actress.
She adds, “With so many people prompting you and so many cameras and lights focused on you, you don’t get the opportunity to feel shy or uncomfortable at all. You are more concerned about the film and to give the camera your best.”
So, who does she think is the sexiest heroine on screen these days? “Well it has to be Mallika Sherawat. I think she’s got an amazing sensuousness about her that is just impossible to match. She is fantastically attractive too,” Jacqueline adds.
2011/10/22 15:06:04 he Special Court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Patiala House here was enveloped in suspenseful and anxious silence minutes before Judge O.P. Saini read the charges against the 14 accused in the famous 2G telecom spectrum case.
Packed to capacity, no one even spoke in whispers, waiting eagerly for the charges. But once Judge Saini started reading the operative part of the 456-page charges at 12:05 pm, the faces of a few accused started turning sullen, while others remained nervous.
Former Telecom Minister A. Raja, the prime accused in the case, seemed taken aback by the enormity of charges, which even call for life imprisonment, if found guilty, while fellow DMK party colleague and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi looked a bit confused.
Raja's counsel Sushil Kumar vehemently objected to the charges and declined even to say "not guilty" for a brief moment, while Kanimozhi looked a bit relaxed after another DMK leader T.R. Baalu explained the relatively leaner impact of charges against her.
Among the rest, the mother and wife of Swan Telecom's Shahid Usman Balwa started crying loud after he was charged with cheating with criminal intent, presenting false evidence, as also under the Prevention of Corruption Act with punishment for criminal conspiracy.
The three officials of Reliance Group also appeared calm and collect faced as they were with charges of abetment and cheating, while the counsels of others took objection to the veracity of the charges and said they will not plead guilty or otherwise.
Judge O.P. Saini advised the accused to affix their signatures on the relevant papers so that he could begin trial. "Charges have been framed, read over and explained to each accused, to which they pleaded not guilty and claimed trial."
Once the counsels relented the judge fixed Nov 11 as the date for start of trial.
"Before that I will call the 28 witnesses for examination," he said, adding, none of the co-accused need to be present in the court before that unless the investigative agency makes a specifically request to that effect.
The charges were initially expected at 10 in the morning but the court staff said it was being postponed to 10:30 am. This was again deferred to 11:30 am and finally the charges were read out at 12:05 pm.
For eight of the 14 accused, including Kanimozhi and the three Reliance Group officials, Monday is another crucial day. Judge O.P. Saini will hear their bail applications. For the rest, lawyers said, they can move the courts again for bail. (IANS)
