2007/3/3 15:06:09 The technical advisory commission of the Central Water Commission has cleared in principle four irrigation projects in the Telangana region. The four projects are Devadula, Gupta, Alisagar and Murasumalli projects. With this, the decks have been cleared for central funding for these projects. The state government will receive Rs. 370 crores for these projects from the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.
The congressmen are naturally elated by the development. Not just the projects have been cleared and they can make some money through contracts but because now KCR cannot complain that Telangana is being neglected. KCR had been alleging all along that the state government was only interested in the Polavaram project and was not showing any interest in the irrigation projects in the Telangana region.

2011/11/17 1:08:03 New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) Giving a boost to the transport sector, the government Wednesday approved 15 highway projects covering a total of 1,814 km at a cost of Rs.15,680 crore.
"The cabinet committee on infrastructure in its meeting today has approved 15 projects for highway construction totalling 1,814 km at an estimated cost of Rs.15,680 crore," the ministry of transport and highway said in a statement.
According to the statement, ten projects of the total approved work would be undertaken by the state-run National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), while two projects would be executed by Rajasthan public works department and the rest three projects through Madhya Pradesh road development corporation.
"Clearance for these projects indicates government's firm commitment to augment the highway infrastructure on an urgent basis," the statement said.
Some of the major projects include six laning of Etawah - Chakeri, Kanpur section of national highway-2 (NH) in Uttar Pradesh under the fourth phase of the national highway development programme (NHDP).
The project would cover a length of 160.21 km at a cost of Rs.1,652.38 crore.
"Four/six laning of Raipur - Bilaspur section on NH-200 in the state of Chhatisharh under NHDP phase - IV-A for a distance of 126.52 km and with a cost of Rs.1,371.73 crore," the statement said.
The projects are to be carried out in eight states.
2008/1/3 12:48:02 Minister Mareppa put the chief minister and the ruling congress in an embarrassing satiation. In a television interview, the minister admitted that there was some corruption in the irrigation projects. But in a surprise statement, the minister said that there was nothing wrong about it and corruption was a normal thing particularly in big projects like the irrigation projects. Far from refuting allegations about corruption, the congress government seems to be slowly veering around to making corruption legal!
2007/11/20 12:36:33 Chief minister Y S Rajsashelkar Reddy is every much embarrassed over the CAG report. The report has severely indicted the government over the irregularities in the irrigation projects.
CAG has found irregularities in irrigation projects to the tune of 100’s of crores. The report states that many contractors were favoured and excess payment made in violation of the rules.

2007/8/25 12:36:26 Rjamouli is very happy with the success of his latest film Yamadonga with NTR and Mohan Babu. The director is all gung ho about his future projects. He says that he will not only make mythological films, but also experiment with historical and folklore.
The latest technology coupled with the everlasting charm of mythological movies gives him a chance to take extra interest in them. Will this mean a revival of mythological films in Telugu. It has been a long time since the days of NTR’s DVSK and other such films.
2007/11/20 18:51:33 Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah says that there is no scope for corruption in the irrigation projects. The minister was reacting to the CAG report. He said that all the works are fool proof. The contractors have been made accountable and the tender process has been made transparent.
However the CAG report says that an amount of over 700 crore has been paid in excess in the irrigation projects so far. The government has allowed the contactors to revise the estimates and this has resulted in huge loss to the exchequer. The report has come as a big embarrassment for the congress party and chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy in particular.
2006/10/27 11:50:34 She’s a true Kapoor blood. Her panache, spunky, sex-appeal, and talent are reminiscent of the older Kapoors’ in the khandaan (so what if they were mostly the male brigade).
There are very few actors who can race to the top without boasting of a B.O success. Kareena Kapoor is one such.
The ‘super-hit’ tag dodges her film, yet, her popularity remains unaffected. The best directors in the industry are willing to bet big bucks on her.
“I think it’s mostly because I have always stuck to my ground. I have set my own standards and said to myself - This is way I want it, this is way I like it.
I could do an Omkara, at the same time do a K3G or a dance to a number in Don. I have proved myself time and again, though a lot of my films haven’t done well.
I guess filmmakers have been able to tap my talent and see something in me.
Or maybe God’s will or plain luck is that’s playing along with me. So many people ask me - what is it about you that everyone wants to work with you? I am trying to figure it out and answer it for myself,” explains Kareena. We believe so.
Vishal Bharadwaj was so impressed with Kareena after Omkara, he expressed his desire to work with her in all his future projects.
She adds, “That’s what he says; I hope it happens that way. Working with Vishal is every heroine’s dream come true, because he projects women beautifully.
The high I got working with Vishal Bharadwaj, I’ve never got such a high. Omkara is a painting that you can’t even reprint.
We are planning something really big next year; I am keeping my fingers crossed for it.” Her seductive moves on Shah Rukh Khan in Don have caught everyone’s attention.
Sure this was no mean task. “I love switching from super-sexy to super-non-glam.
This indeed was a challenge, though I don’t think I will be able to match up to Helen aunty, she’s too good. That’s the only thing that scared me.”
While classics are the flavour of the season, filmmakers must be turning towards this Kapoor beauty for such roles too.
“Maybe I will do it someday. I am too young for it right now. I will probably do it after five years.
If I do everything now, what will I do in the next few years?” She did a cameo in Don, but like most other beauties, Kareena probably dreams of doing one remake, portraying one unforgettable character?
“I would love to be a part of Pakeezah and Mughle Azam, but I don’t think these films will ever be remade,” with a hint of disappointment.
With so much of energy, attitude and talent - this Kapoor won’t give up the race so easily.
She darts a quick reply, “I definitely long an innings ahead of me. I have to match up to my sister, right? She’s been around for fourteen years; I have been around for only about six years.
So you see…I have a long competition that begins at home only.”
2007/8/1 16:48:01 Union finance minister P Chidamabaram accompanied Prime Minster Manmohan Singh long with planning commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia for a review meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday. This is the first time that the PM is undertaking a review of the work being done by a state government.
The state government presented before the PM the state government’s plans to attract investment for projects in the state. Ten big projects are in the pipeline and P Chidambaram was very impressed with the work being done by the state government for wooing FDI.
Sonakshi is in great demand in Bollywood! After the grand success of “Dabangg”, Sonakshi is in great demand.
She has been roped in for future projects opposite big stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, and Saif Ali exclusive only to big hero projects; the girl’s market price is being negotiated very carefully.”
Sonakshi will be seen opposite Akshay in “Joker”, Salman in “Kick”, Saif in “Race 2”. Despite just one film to her credit her price has almost touched 1 crore.
A trade source stated “This has not happened even with Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut or any of the other young girls.”
He added “Since Sonakshi has kept herself exclusive only to big hero projects, the girl’s market price is being negotiated very carefully.”
The writer and creative director of Taare Zameen Par, Amol Gupte, is already being wooed by production houses. If sources are to be believed, Gupte is in talks with UTV, who have expressed a keen desire to work with him as a filmmaker and fund his future projects.
The director has not exactly had a very pleasant experience while filming for his debut film, but his hard work seems to have paid off. Talking about his future projects, Gupte says that he has completed two-film projects and is having high-profile meetings with Bollywood’s A-listers. The first film is again a children’s film that revolves around economic inequality and its immediate impact on children.
A part from a child protagonist, the film will have two leading actors who will portray siblings on screen. The second one is a comedy and is expected to feature Bipasha Basu, Boman Irani and Ritesh Deshmukh. If sources are to be believed, Gupte almost had a cakewalk roping in the stars for his movie. He apparently sent out a bound script to Bipasha and she was so impressed with the plotline that she immediately agreed to do the movie.
Deepika, Katrina in line for Aamir’s ‘Delhi Belly’ item number!
A Bollywood film today can’t just do without a sizzling hot ‘item number’. With songs like ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ and ‘Dum Maro Dum’ making it to the top chartbusters, having a hot babe do the dazzling moves has become a must. And our very own “Mr Perfectionist” Aamir Khan is on the look out for a hottie to do the needful for his latest Imran Khan starrer ‘Delhi Belly’.
Reportedly, Aamir is wondering who he should zero in on as he has three names in his mind- Deepika Padukone, Mallika Sherawat and Katrina Kaif.
Talking to a daily, a source said, "Aamir is busy looking for the perfect item girl to pep up his film. One knows how he gets when it comes to casting and again his perfectionist streak is at play. `Delhi Belly` will be the first bold movie from his production house, which will have some really intimate and explicit scenes. This is why Aamir felt the need to have an item song."
Considering ‘Delhi Belly’ is going to be a scorcher of sorts, we may well wonder what the item song will have in store for us. It might better “Sheila’s jawani” and Dip’s ravishing moves in DMD.
"Let`s see who lands the role. If Kat wins over Dippy or vice-versa then again people will draw parallels on how Ranbir Kapoor`s one ex-girlfriend beat the other!, “ added the source.

If grapevine is to be believed, Emraan Hashmi was recently offered a 3-film contract by country's premier film making house UTV MOTION PICTURES. Surprisingly, Emraan is still contemplating whether to accept or reject the offer and is keeping everyone guessing.
Says our source, "Emraan is basically playing a wait and watch game. Yes, the offer does sound interesting but he first wishes to test the waters and also see how is it working out for other actors who have got into such details."
But what could really be the reason behind all the apprehension? Also won't it anyways add to his profile by being associated with a biggie production house like UTV? "If he had to jump to an offer like this, he always had Mukesh Bhatt's VISHESH FILMS to look up to", adds the source, "But he didn't sign any contract there too, right?"
Is it money, the kind of projects he is getting there or something else altogether which is keeping him waiting? "See, he is at such a stage of his career that he has to think a lot before he decides what is lucrative and what is not. Money is a good thing, yes, but then the projects and the kind of subjects he works on is of utmost importance too. He has to move up the ladder now and show the film world that he has in him which makes for a versatile actor. I am sure UTV would only offer him the kind of projects which he truly deserves; they realize his true potential and are well aware of his star and fan power. Let's wait for some more time and Emraan should be able to make up his mind."

Is Madhuri Dixit staging a comeback to movies? Has Yash Chopra offered her a film? Is Bobby Bedi contemplating signing the actress to enact the role of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi? All sorts of stories are floating in the industry. So what’s the truth?
Every few months one keeps hearing that Madhuri, who is settled in the U.S. after her marriage, is contemplating returning to movies. Sometime back, Somnath Sen [LEELA] had teamed Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri in his new project, but the film couldn’t materialize since the actress was pregnant with her second child.
In the recent past, there were murmurs that at least two prominent producers, Yash Chopra and Bobby Bedi, had approached the actress with film projects. “True, both Yash-ji and Bobby have offered her films,” Madhuri’s business manager Rikku confirms the development, “But the truth is that she hasn’t officially signed any of the projects. There have been discussions… In fact, Yash-ji had offered her two projects, but it all depends on whether she feels excited about those roles.”
Rikku continues with the topic, “Right now, Madhuri is busy with her family. Looking after her husband, home and raising two kids is a full-time responsibility. But, at the same time, she hasn’t closed the doors on movies. Sure, she’s taking time, but the wait will be worth it.”
Kolkata, Sep 11 (IANS) Actress Shazahan Padamsee, last seen in "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji", says she will shed her cute look and exude oomph in her next, "Housefull 2".
"My look in 'Housefull 2' is very glamorous. I think lots of people see me as young and cute, so in this film I am going to up the oomph factor little bit," Shazahan said at a programme of "Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2011".
She will be seen opposite Shreyas Talpade in the Sajid Khan directed multi-starrer.
Shazahan made her debut opposite Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor with 2009 release "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year". It was followed by "Dil To Baccha Hai Ji".
She has also acted in two South Indian films.
When asked about her other projects, the daughter of AD-guru Alyque Padamsee said: "Right now lot of time of this year has been blocked by 'Housefull 2'. I don't want to mention about other projects right now. And I will do only big banner films as I am very choosy about my films."
After the success of his recent films like ‘Kangaroo’, Jayasurya is moving on to more prestigious projects. The actor will join the Kamal film which will start in a short while.
Jayasurya is also the hero of the new film by Balachandramenon, which will start its shooting by the 24th of January. Apart from these film Jayasurya also have plenty of projects in hand like ‘Shakespeare', 'Positive' by V K Prakash and a new Telugu film directed by Soorya Kiran.
The actor has plenty of success films in 2007 including the super hits like chocolate and ’Arabikkatha’ which were bumper hits. He was also seen in meaty roles in films like ‘Hareendran Oru Nishkalangan’, and kangaroo. The only film which had him as hero 'Changathipoocha', also was a profitable affair.
Actress Hansikaa Motwani might be a film old but she has learnt, like experienced actors, not to divulge details about her upcoming projects.
After her debut (as a grown-up, of course) with Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Kaa Surroor , actress Hansikaa Motwani will now be seen in a music video, Ishq Na Karna, directed by Divya Khosla Kumar.
"I know that not many actors would want to do music albums after their first film, but I just couldn't refuse this one. It's special. I'm working with the Kumars and it's been a nice experience," she says.
About life post- Aap Kaa Surroor , Hansikaa says, "I'm busy shooting, it's hectic but fun. I'm the same person though. Success hasn't gone to my head."
And when we ask about her future projects, she remains tight-lipped like all experienced actors, "I can't say much about the movies I am doing; maybe eventually, I'll be able to divulge more."
