Her steamy kiss with Gulshan Grover in the DVD of her debut film that was deleted, will now appear in the new one
Katrina Kaif's hot liplock with Gulshan Grover in Boom (2003) is all set to return to haunt her. The actress had managed to get the screen smooch deleted from the first DVD by putting pressure through Salman Khan, who she was dating then. No one says no to Khan. But now that he's out of her life, the kiss is making a comeback.
The question that begs to be asked is why the makers want to release a fresh DVD when it's not exactly a hot selling item. Says an industry source, 'It is clear that the makers of Boom want to cash in on Katrina's success. She is a top actress now and naturally there will be curiosity about a steamy scene she did, when she was a newcomer." It's just another way to make a quick buck at her expense.
Gulshan confirms, "It is true. The new lot will have the controversial scene, which was omitted earlier. Many years have passed since we did Boom and even I had forgotten that such a scene existed in it. But we are all set to refresh the past. The scene certainly will have its share of reactions."
Meanwhile, the actress is clueless about this new development. However, a source from the production says, "They don't need to inform her or get her permission for the same. She had signed a contract knowing fully well what she was doing and had got paid for it." Fact remains that Kat has time and again admitted that she regrets doing the bold scenes at the start of her career.
Boom on big screen too
Sanjay Jumani, the international distributor of the film, reveals, "It is true that the deleted scenes will be included in the new print. We are also going to re-release the film in UK, USA and Gulf. We feel the film had not got its due when it released. It was ahead of its time."
Katrina Kaif made an exception in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and kissed Hrithik Roshan in a sequence. However, not again!
The actress, like the other two Khans Salman and Shah Rukh Khan has made it clear that she would never kiss on screen, come what say. The clause doesn't waver even for 'good friend' Salman Khan.
When a situation for a kiss arose in Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger both Sallu and Kat said a clear no. Says a source, "Kabir Khan had convinced Katrina for the only kissing scene she has done so far in New York. He was sure she would see how important it was. But with both Salman and Katrina adamant on the no-kiss policy there was no choice but to drop it."
Katrina admits she has broken her no-kiss clause for ZNMD. "Yes, there's a fleeting kiss with Hrithik. It was something that had to be done. But that apart, my stand on kissing remains unchanged," she says.
In fact, the actress is in two minds about buying the rights for the 1998 Drew Barrymore rom-com The Wedding Singer because a long kiss is integral to the plot. "I love that film. But the kiss, No!" Kat says.
Salman Khan attempted to break a record for most kisses received on the hand in a minute on Guiness World Records -- Ab India Todega.
The previous record for the stunt was set by an actor from Japan who received 87 kisses.
To break this record, Sallu was joined by 25 young girls who were thrilled to have the opportunity to kiss the superstar. They managed to kiss him 108 times in a minute, breaking the Guinness world record!
Maybe Salman should now star in the male version of Katrina's famous song -- Zara Zara Kiss Me Kiss Me. Wot say?
Rumours of Salman doing first on-screen kiss with Preity in Jaanemann
Kissing on-screen is hardly a big thing these days and most high profile stars like Ash, Preity, and Saif have already taken the plunge. But one stars who still has to do an on-screen kiss is Salman Khan. Rumours in the industry are circulating that Salman will do his first on-screen kiss with Preity Zinta in Jaanemann. While this will be Salman’s first on-screen kiss, Preity is already quite a professional in the on-screen kissing department. However producer of the film Sajid Nadiadwala vehemently denies that there is a kiss in the film. As for Salman’s other film Salaam-E-Ishq he is working alongside Priyanka Chopra, but according to sources the two actors are sharing very cold vibes on the sets and almost don’t talk to each other after their shots. Priyanka and Salman’s friendly rapport was disrupted when Salman recently wanted to replace Priyanka with girlfriend Katrina in his next film London Dreams.
Guess who is maha fida over Piggy Chops aka Priyanka Chopra these days?
No we are not talking about her boy friend, Harman Baweja, but apna Badman Gulshan Grover. The veteran actor and Priyanka were in Delhi last week invited by Tina Munim to flag off an old age rally.
The organisers told Gulshan and Priyanka to be ready by 6 am so that they can be escorted to the venue on time. Gulshan came down to the lobby of their hotel sharp at 6 am and when he didn’t see Priyanka, he decided to leave for the venue thinking she might take some more time to get ready. But to his surprise, when he got down from his car he saw Priyanka getting down from her car behind him.
I must say I was impressed by her punctuality, normally Bollywood’s heroines never come on time, but here’s the girl who surprised me by her discipline, says Gulshan.
Not many know that GG was one of the judges of Femina Miss India, when Priyanka won the crown. Now that’s some success story.
Meanwhile, Katrina baffled our imagination when she didn’t turned up with Salman at the unveiling of his of wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London.
And when Salman caught the next day’s flight back to Mumbai, she stayed back in London. And insiders say that she wanted to spend some more time with her family back in London and that’s taking a short break. Do we smell something here... maybe a lover’s tiff?
He might be known for his various get ups and powerful dialogue delivery on screen, but the veteran actor recently got the taste of his own medicine in the Salman Khan-starrer Marigold , where Gulshan Grover doesn't have a single dialogue in the film.
"Can you imagine someone who is known for his dialogue delivery doesn't have a single dialogue in the film? The only dialogue in the film I have is 'NO' .
Director Willard Caroll wanted me to be silent throughout the film, but Salman wanted me to say something and that's why I just say 'No' towards the end of the film," laughs Gulshan.
Now the big question is, should his fans see the film for this one dialogue or 'No' ?
Katrina Kaif , the only actress to have achieved four back-to-back successes last year in Namastey London , Apne , Partner and Welcome has surely started 2008 with a bang.
The actress is going steady and the two hot and sexy numbers 'Touch Me' and 'Sexy Lady' in Abbas-Mastan 's forthcoming film Race has already caught the attention of public.
The songs have now topped the music charts and Katrina is surely in the reckoning for bigger achievements now.
Abbas-Mastan, having decided to cash on to the success that the pair, Saif Ali Khan -Katrina have got, have added another happening number in the film and the song now finds a place in the audio tracks too.
To add on to everything, Katrina's Rs 6 cr deal with Studio 18 has generated interest amongst other A-list production houses who want to crack a similar contract with her.
Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will share a steamy liplock in Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. The kiss was shot in the Spain during the first schedule of the film, last month.
Although Hrithik has played tonsil tennis with other heroines in the past, this was his first time with Katrina Kaif, so there was a level of discomfort from her side. Also, this is the first time they are working together, so she didn't have the easy on-screen chemistry she does with an Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan or even Ranbir Kapoor.
The duo had to work to get into the comfy zone. They spent a time of time together on the set before the intimate scene was shot. Perfectionist Hrithik wanted to get it right and was suggested rehearsing the smooch before the shoot. A source spills the details on the kiss.
"The scene happens when Hrithik is bidding her goodbye. As soon as he starts walking away, Katrina realises she misses him already and rides her dirt bike towards him. She then gets off the bike and kisses him."
Before shooting the scene, Zoya sat with the actors and stressed on the relevance of the liplock in the scene. She made no bones about the fact that that they look great together, and she wanted to milk their chemistry on 36mm. The source adds, "Hrithik and Katrina have done a photo shoot in the past. Apart from that, they haven't interacted a lot socially either, so breaking the ice wasn't easy, but you wouldn't believe that if you see the kissing scene."
On the day of the shoot the actors were heard agonising over how they have to get the scene right. In fact, they shot it several times before Zoya okayed it. "Both actors were professional and completely committed to getting it right, and they did," concludes the insider.
If you have already over-dosed on the remake trend in Bollywood, we don't blame you! Looks like there is no escaping this predicament and one just needs to go with the flow. So while purists scream blasphemy, the film-makers scream who cares!
Mr India Part 2 is in the pipeline and is all probability will star Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor along with the original lead (Anil and Sridevi). However according to the grapevine, none other than Bad Man Gulshan Grover will play the iconic villain, Mogambo which was immortalized on the Indian Celluloid by the late Amrish Puri! All we can say is that "Our Bollywood Khush Nahi Hua!)
In Bhushan Kumar’s Karzzz, Bad Man, Gulshan Grover plays Sir Juda (a role originally played by Prem Nath).
More than the film, it’s Gulshan’s specially created steel hand made at the cost of a whopping Rs 25 lakhs which has become the talk of the town.
And guess what? Sexy Urmila Matondkar plays a bitch in the film. Recently, when GG and Urmila were shooting together and after Urmila gave a very impressive shot GG complimented her and said “I must say, you play an arrogant woman very well.” Urmila was more than vocal.
“Stop being polite, I know what you mean is a bitch. No, this is the first time that I’m playing a bitch. Thanks GG for calling me a bitch.” Talk of bad and the bitch.
It's no co-incidence that Madhavan's first screen kiss is for his mentor Mani Rathnam's Guru.
The surprise is that it should have been with an actress who has a very propah image…Vidya Balan!
Even more surprisingly, Mani Rathnam for whom Maddy broke his no-kissing code of conduct has given his protégé the briefest role of his career.
Laughs Maddy, "That's okay..I did it with my eyes open…I mean the film, not the kiss," laughs Maddy from Toronto where Guru was premiered at the posh Elgin theatre. "The response here has been overwhelming," he enthuses.
And Maddy? "Well, even my wife Sarita thinks I've a small role. But what the heck! I did it for my mentor. As for the kiss, I did exactly what was in the script."
Hadn't he promised his wife he's never kiss any of his heroines on screen? "Well…that's okay. She saw the kiss and liked it. You can't say no to Mani. And frankly I didn't want to. There're some things one has to do."
Was he uncomfortable doing it? "Well I'm not a seasoned screen kisser. But I'm an actor. I'm supposed to do what I'm asked to."
One thing is for sure. The Guru kiss will be Maddy's first and last screen smooch.
Years ago, a kiss in Umesh Mehra's Guru between Mithun Chakraborty and Sridevi had created a furore.
Bollywood badman lends voice for Aishwarya’s husband in ….!
Bollywood badman Gulshan Grover is gearing up to play husband of Aishwarya Rai in Jagmohan Mundra's ‘Provoked'. But not physically – only through his voice. Naveen Andrews has played Ash's on-screen hubby in the film. In a recent interview, Gulshan says, “It all started when I saw the film in London . I was highly moved by Aishwarya's powerhouse performance in the film. After the movie I told my friend Jag (Jagmohan Mundra) that I should have played the Punjabi husband, who loves his wife but ill-treats her because of jealousy.” And now when the movie is being readied for release, Ash and Jag have found a novel way to accommodate Gulshan. They have asked him to lend his voice for the husband's character.
While Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor went all public on a chat show with their likings and disliking about Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina prefers to keep mum. The actress does not like entertaining questions regarding her ex Ranbir Kapoor.
Katrina Kaif allegedly declined Ayaan Mukherjee’s next film as Ranbir Kapoor was cast opposite her in the lead. Reportedly Katrina clarified that she opted out due to date problems, but preferred not to answer any questions on Ranbir Kapoor.
Gulshan Grover has modeled his character in choreographer Saroj Khan's son Raju Khan's showbiz-expose Showbiz on Ekta Kapoor. The TV tycoon is far from flattered. Producer Mahesh Bhatt known to cannibalize his friends' lives, and his own in at least four films (Arth, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Zakhm and Woh Lamhe) is as usual, candid on the matter.
"It was my director Raju Khan and Gullu (Grover) who decided to incorporate the personality of an excessively religious media into Gullu's character. They claim this character is sourced to the lady (Ekta). If Gullu hadn't revealed this for obvious reasons no one would've known about it. All art plagiarizes from life. But here the 'credit' must go entirely to Gulshan Grover. Because it was he who thought of this touch of realism".
Ekta Kapoor is none too pleased with this 'tribute'. “All I've to say is… why? Why is Mr Gulshan Grover playing me? This is the first time I'm hearing about this. And I really don't want to say much. I've too much happening in my office to worry about who's playing me in a movie."
Currently she's neck-deep in issues involving the change of the main cast in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. "I can't deny there're some important changes happening in the serial. I'll soon be in a position to reveal those changes.”

Bhojpuri film industry pays tribute on music producers ninth death anniversary but Bollywood seemed to have forgotten it.
Name and fame are transient; neither remains forever. If that sounds like an esoteric shred of philosophical sermonising, Bollywood music producer Gulshan Kumars ninth death anniversary would reinforce ones belief in the above piece of philosophy. The ninth death anniversary of late cassette king Gulshan Kumar was held on Saturday but no Bollywood personality showed up. This despite the fact that several Bollywood personalities being intimated of the same. Naturally, this has upset fans of the late Gulshan Kumar. Especially given that during his lifetime, Kumar had been instrumental in shaping the careers and lives of many, thanks to which his beneficiaries continue to survive and flourish today. On Saturday, Gulshan Kumars Shradhanjali Samaroh was organised by Pratima Tiwari, secretary of Lokras organisation, and on this occasion personalities like Rajpal Yadav, Saroj Khan and Tinu Verma were present though they were not related to Gulshan Kumar. Ironically though, those associated with him during his lifetime were conspicuous by their very absence. Incidentally, Ajay Kapoor and Ajit Kohli of T-Series were present. Gulshan Kumar had played a very crucial role in development of Bollywood and Bhojpuri film industries. However, his contribution seems to be forgotten by Bollywood though Bhojpuri Film Industry showed its respect and gratitude to the departed music producer by observing his death anniversary which was attended by almost everyone from Bhojpuri film industry. Said Manoj Tiwari Mridul, actor and singer in Bhojpuri films, I dont know why they didnt turn up but as far as me and the Bhojpuri film industry is concerned we paid our homage and respect to him. He was one of those who shaped Bhojpuri films and albums by his unstinting support. The Bhojpuri film community will never forget this.
