2010/12/18 2:47:01 Telugu Film Industry which was shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad some two decades ago seems packing up for another migration, this time to Visakhapatnam, because of the threat from pro Telangana people, especially TRS party leaders. Noted producer D.Rama Naidu who was invited as the Chief Guest for the launching of International Film Festival conducted by Visakha Film Society at Vizag on Friday, speaking on the occasion has said that, he already built a cinema studio at Visakhapatnam and foresees Vizag is the next best destination for Tollywood to move in.
“From now onwards, I will come to Vizag every month and stay here 15days to develop the specific area in Bhemili as a film industry hub. I am sure that, Vizag is a very ideal place for Tollywood to move in. I already built my Rama Naidu studio at Vizag. I think many more people may follow me in the coming days,” said D.Rama Naidu. Later, the members of the film society felicitated him on the occasion.
If, this is going to happen soon, then pro Telangana people like KCR and others may fume against Tollywood for his proposed plans and even may intensify their attacks to drive the industry out of Hyderabad at the earliest. If, TRS and pro Telangana people react positively, then they may be able to retain the film industry to Hyderabad or else they are going to loose it to Vizag.

Movie Moghul Dr D Ramanaidu participated in a 'Meet the Press' programme arranged by Film Critics Association on November 13. Speaking on the occasion, he says, 'Mine is not a delicate mind to feel bad when I failed or to elate when there was a success. I faced several ebbs and tides during my long career. While the success of 'Ramudu Bheemudu' is the seed, it was the success of 'Premnagar' which could termed a plant.
Our banner grew step by step. After the success of 'Premnagar' in Telugu, we remade the film as 'Vasantha Maligai' in Tamil. Likewise, the Hindi version of 'Premnagar' was also a hit. It is like a tree for our banner. In fact, what all that I earned through films was invested again in the film industry. My banner has the credit of introducing 23 directors, four music directors, various cinematographers and technicians besides artistes. A total of 46 heroes, 126 heroines made their debut into the films through our banner.
Not only in film industry, I also entered into politics and was elected as MP from Bapatla constituency. However, I am keeping myself off from politics now. I had an ambition to produce films in all the Indian languages and I was able to realize it and only three languages like Guarati, Bhojpuri and Punjabi languages remained balance. After this, I had another wish to wield the megaphone. I am planning to take up direction by next year.
' Speaking about his children, Ramanaidu says, 'I came to the film industry with a wish to become a hero, but turned a producer. My son Sureshbabu is continuing my legacy as producer, while Venkatesh had fulfilled my wish to become a hero. It was also quite accidental. When we planned 'Kaliyuga Pandavulu', we could not obtain the dates of Krishna and Venkatesh made his debut in 1986 under the direction of Raghavendra Rao.
Now my grandson Rana Daggubati is also coming up as hero in film which would be launched in April. I am also planning to produce a film with all new faces by January next year. We are constructing a studio in Vizag with all the facilities. We are spending all the profits earned from our recent hit 'Tulasi' on our Vizag studio.
Those who enter the studio with a script, could return with the first copy in that studio and there is no need to look for another side for any facility.' On the occasion, Dr Ramanaidu announced a donation of Rs 5 lakh to the Film Critics Association. Later, the association office bearers felicitated Dr Ramanaidu and presented him a shawl and a memento.
2011/2/14 12:05:15 During his recent visit to Visakhapatnam Chiranjeevi has expressed his interest to settle down at Visakhapatnam. But, why? Why all of a sudden he developed interest to shift to Visakhapatnam? What makes him state like that?
Perhaps, is it because he got a tip off from the party high command that, sooner or later if the state is divided, he will be made Chief Minister of Andhra Region? That’s why he is planning to shift his base from present Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, so as he can develop his base there?
However, he told some silly reasons for his interest. He said that, he has visited Vizag city many times and had many of his films shot at beautiful city of vizag and many of them were super hits. He said people of the city are very friendlier and has encouraged him through out his film carrier. All those films shot at vizag brought him name and fame. So, seeing this beautiful city Vizag, he developed interest to settle down there. Moreover, he had a strong fan base at Vizag, any they are insisting him to settle down there!
Chiranjeevi said that, he actually wanted to settle down at Chennai, while his career was in peak. But, when the film industry has shifted to Hyderabad he also was obliged to shift Hyderabad.

2007/1/22 15:02:06 Telugu Talkie era started with Bakta Prahalada (1931). Andhra was not yet been identified as a competent area for cinema shooting so.
The shooting was being done in the places like Kolhapur, Kolkata Studios. In 1936, a studio, by name Durga Cine Town was started in Rajahmundry. It was started by Nidamarti Soorayya whose father Jaladurga Prasad’s name was after it.
Today we find Andhra Bank office in the place once the studio existed. Chittajallu Pullaiah, the first generation director, had a close association with this studio. ‘Sampurna Ramayanam’ was the first cinema to be shot there. More than 20,000 ft. reel was shot here, as, sources say. ‘Satyanarayana Vratam’, ‘Kasula Peru’, ‘Bhaktamarkandeya’, ‘Chal Mohana Ranga’, Mohini Bhasmasura, were but from this very studio.
Durga Cine Town was winded up running short of technical advancement.
Everyone knows him as a first-rate model, an evolving actor and a youth icon. But there is more to John Abraham, who turned 35 Monday.
He is deeply involved in social work and wants more youngsters to join his Habitat for Humanity brigade.
"I keep a break between my films and during those breaks I work for social causes I address. I love animals and I work for PETA. I have my own brigade called John' brigade for Habitat For Humanity," John said.
"This year, we have built 5,000 houses in impoverished villages all over India. Next year, we plan to build 8,000 houses. Habitat for Humanity is a Jimmy Carter foundation project.
"Do people know that, no! But now I have to talk about my work because I need the youth to join me. I need youngsters to come there and actually build the houses. I build houses for the people. I go up on the roof and put in screws. The youth connect with me. They feel that if John can do it, so can we. If John can build houses, we can build houses too," he added.
Although critics have panned his latest two releases 'No Smoking' and 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal', John is unperturbed and looking out for more substantial roles.
"You have to take criticism positively. Criticism is where someone will tell you both bad and good points. I object to cynicism where people just tell you the bad things. So criticism is always welcome," he said.
"I make sure that I get the right role and the money is also important. But I'm not consciously trying to do non-commercial films. 'Zinda' was different but it worked.
