Ramoji Rao and Sanghi asked to surrender land

The Rangareddy district RDO has now sent notices to Eenadu group chairman Ramoji Rao and Vaartha MD Girish Sanghi. The notices have been issued under Form-6. The RDO has asked both of them to surrender the surplus ceiling land under their possession. He has given them time till August 30 to comply with the orders. If they do not surrender the land by that date, the government will have no option but to seize the lands.
Ramoji Rao has already said that he would battle it out in the courts. So Sanghi is also likely follow suit.

For Babu, media means only Eenadu and ETV!

2007/8/13 19:05:28 Chandra Babu Naidu invited a lot of ridicule recently when he sprang to the defense of Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao, following the verdict on the excess ceiling land in his possession. He went overboard and used the choicest to abuses against chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy and the congress party.

The same Babu is now silent when the RDO issued similar notice to Girish Sanghi of Vaartha. The notice says that Grish Sanghi has about 2,000 acres of ceiling land in his possession, and this is against the land ceiling act.

Sanghi is a congress MP and Babu should actually have welcomed this. But surprisingly, Babu is silent on this issue and he did not care to say even one word in defense of Sanghi.

Sanghi is the editor and proprietor of Vaartha, a Telugu language daily. So is it now not an attack on media, as Babu keeps saying whenever something is said or done about Ramoji Rao.

By his silence, Babu has only exposed himself. It is now obvious that for Babu, only the interests of Ramoji Rao are supreme and everything else is of little consequence.

    Ramoji asked to surrender

2008/2/11 19:00:22 The Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao and his son Ch. Kiron are now on bail. They have been on bail for almost three months now. The court issued an arrest warrant on Ramoji Rao and Kiron flowing a case filed by the owner of the premises on which Eenadu now stands.

The petitioner claimed that Ramoji Rao and Kiron had cheated him by forging some documents. He said that Ramoi Rao surrendered a part of the land to the government for road widening. The government gave alternate land and Ramoji Rao and Kiron got the land registered in their names.

Ramoji Rao has since refuted this. He claimed that he and his son are innocent. Ramoji Rao moved a bail petition in the High Court seeking extension of bail. The High Court directed Ramoji Rao to first surrender before the court in Visakhapatnam within the next ten day. The High Court will take up his bail petition after that.

    Vaartha to support TDP

2008/2/19 14:08:50 In politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies. This has been proved several times over. The other popular saying 'Enemy's, enemy is our best friend.

The TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu and Congress MP Girish Sanghi are the latest examples. Sanghi's Telugu daily Vaartha was a pro-congress newspaper.

But Sanghi seems to have fallen out of favour with YSR. Sanghi also had problems over his 2,000 plus acres of land near Hyderabad. Some of the lands fall under the land ceiling act. The chief minister did not come to the rescue of Sanghi and Sanghi gradually moved way.

Sanghi's usefulness as the owner of Vaarth was also over as YS Jagan is starting a Telugu daily. So YSR has almost made Sanghi into a non-entity in the party.

Sanghi is now seething in anger against YSR. Babu seized this opportunity and started entertaining Sanghi. Babu even attended a marriage in the Sanghi family in Hyderabad and spent considerable time.

Sanghi and Babu have now met over diner at Sanghi's residence at Talkotora in Delhi last evening. It would be interesting to see how far Babu and Sanghi travel together in their anti-YSR campaign. Both are well known for their rank opportunism.

Big blow to Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao

2007/8/8 20:18:59 The owner of Eenadu and Margadarsi and RFC chief Ramoji Rao is facing the biggest challenge in his life today. The land tribunal delivered its verdict today and it has gone against Ramoji Rao.

The land tribunal has found Ramoji Rao and his group companies along with his family members, about 1800 acres of surplus lands. This is against the land reforms act. No individual or a family can hold more than 500 acres of land. The tribunal has directed Ramoji Rao to surrender the land.

Ramoji Rao has been given 15 days time to respond to the notice. According to some lawyers, Ramoji Rao now has no option but to comply with the order.

But people who have watched him for some years say that Ramoji will not give up without a fight. He may drag the issue in courts for years on end if possible. The details of the verdict will be known tomorrow.

    Ramoji surrenders in police station

    2008/2/20 14:27:37

Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao and his son Ch Kiron surrendered in the three-town police station in Visakhapatnam. The surrender follows a directive given by the High Court in the land cheating case.

Ramoji Rao and Kiron are on bail for the past three months in connection with a case. The High court set the pre-condition for extending the bail.

Ramoji Rao and his son are alleged to have taken land in lieu of land surrendered for road widening in Visakhapatnam. The petitioner said that he had been cheated, as Ramoji Rao is not the owner but only a tenant. Hence he had no right to take compensation from government and then get it registered in his name.

High drama preceded the surrendered. Ramoji Rao and Kiron were ‘covered’ with the help of tow large black umbrellas. Some of the staff from his group companies formed into a shield and obstructed TV cameramen and photographers from taking pictures and video. The even used plastic chairs to block the waiting lens men from taking pictures. The TV crew had a difficult time catching them on their cameras.

    Ramoji Rao shamed

2007/12/11 17:08:15 This could be the ultimate embarrassment faced by media baron Ramoji Rao in all his life. A case under section 420 has been booked against him. The case pertains to the 2.7 acres land leased out to Ramoji Rao by one M A Easwarkumar Varma.

Varma now alleges that Ramoji Rao and his son Ch Kiron, MD of Eenadu have cheated him by forging some documents. The government acquired about 570 yards of land from the site for road widening. The government gave an alternative site measuring about 600 yards.

Varma says that Ramoji Rao and his son have got the land registered in their names when it should rightfully belong to him. He approached the court and the court has now directed the police to file a case and serve notices to Ramoji Rao and Kiron under section 420 and other sections.

    Court scraps Ramoji petitions

    2011/7/20 8:04:10
Media baron Ramoji Rao had to wear black face again on a land deal case. All his 3 petitions meant to prolong the land lease deal case were scrapped by 9th session court judge at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

Ramoji Rao, who often slings mud against others through his powerful media network, has been illegally occupying a piece of prime land for years after the expiry of the lease deal. He took 2.78 acres of prime land on 33 years long lease from Manthena Aditya Varma in the year 1974 to establish his Eenadu news paper unit. This lease agreement was completed in year 2007, but he refuses to vacate and hand over the land to its owner Varma until now.

Ramoji Rao not only refusing to vacate the land, but he has also surrendered a piece of land from it to government for roads widening and obtained the same size of land in another area on his name as an exchange. He not even bothered to consult or take permission from the owner of the land before making this deal. This land is located in Seethammadhara area the heart of the Visakhapatnam city, from where his Eenadu Vizag edition is running now.

When, Manthena Aditya Varma fails to get possession of his site, he has complained against Ramoji Rao in 3town police station on 6.12.2007. But, even the police were afraid to take any action against the powerful and highly influenced Ramoji Rao. Hence, Varma sought the help of High Court. It has ordered the police to file an FIR against Ramoji Rao and start investigation of the case. Then only, the police have filed an FIR against Ramoji Rao (on 8.5.2010) with which Ramoji Rao is forced to step into court to counter the case. But, he is clever enough to use the loop holes in our law. He keep filing separate petitions on various reasons to prolong the case. In his petitions, he has asked the court to postpone the case as the lease documents were under mortgage with Union bank of India, Hyderabad. But, since the land owner Varma posses the copy of the lease deal, the court has scrapped Ramoji Rao’s petitions and adjourned the case to August 8th.

    Congressmen dare Commnunists

    2007/8/10 15:46:37

The land tribunal verdict against Ramoji Rao has come in handy for the congress leaders to launch a tirade against the communists. The congress leaders now want the communists to show their sincerity in their agitation and plant flags at Ramoji Film city and take possession of the assigned and excess ceiling land.

The leaders led by Bothsa were vociferous in their demand. They asked the communists as to why they are silent now. They should immediately take over the excess land at RFC and distribute it among the poor and the landless.

The congress minister also went to the extent of casting aspersions on the communists by saying that they are in cahoots with Ramoji Rao. When some congress leader is seen as grabbing two or three acres, the communists raise a big hue and cry. When it is now clear that there is excess land at RFC, which runs into thousands of acres, why are the communists silent?

    'Fans' surrender a big drama!

2008/1/30 19:13:22 Seven fans of Chiranjeevi surrendered before the police on Tuesday. But it appears that it is all a big drama. The police now say that four out of the seven are actually fake fans. They are not the fans of Chiranjeevi at all. They were paid money by the real attackers and asked to surrender before the police.

The real culprits are still at large. One of the main accused says that he was not in Hyderabad when the attack took place. He was in his hometown in Krishna district on Tuesday.

The police are clueless as the whereabouts of the real attackers. The police are trying to find out as to who is the key person behind this surrender drama. The entire surrender drama has been very carefully stage managed, just like in some films.

    Babu defends Ramoji Rao!

    2007/8/10 9:17:45

The land tribunal verdict may have gone against the Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao. But Chandra Babu Naidu is angry at the verdict. He charged the ruling congress government of launching a witch-hunt against Ramoji Rao.

Babu says that since the Ramoji Film city is a great work of great and an international standards film studio, the government should not do anything against it. Does he mean to say that even if they are many violations by RFC, no action should be taken against it?

After the film stars and technicians, the IT authorities have now turned their attention on the Eenadu and Margadarsi chairman Ramoji Rao. Sailaja Kiron, wife of Ramoji Rao’s elder son Kiron and MD of Margadarsi, was grilled by IT sleuths some time back.

Now Ramoji Rao was summoned by the IT officials’ and questioned for more than three hours. The IT officials are still continuing their questioning even now. He was asked to explain certain irregularities in his tax returns and also asked to cough up some 40 crore as tax. The case pertains to some 120 crore as unclaimed money in Margadarsi financiers.

    Ramoji in real trouble

2008/3/29 11:06:20 Media baron and chairman of Margadarsi financiers, Cherukuri Ramoji Rao is now in real trouble. The Supreme Court on Friday set aside his plea seeking a stay on the investigations by the state police into the alleged irregularities by the state government and investigating agencies.

The Supreme Court has now made it clear that the state government can now initiate action against Ramoji Rao for any irregularities committed by his group. If found guilty, Ramoji Rao will have to pay a fine of 7,000 crore and also face the prospect of a two year jail term.

Jagan’s Saakshi naturally went to town with this development. It carried two big stories very prominently on page one today. Ramoji Rao and his son Ch Kiron are now on bail for four months in connection with a criminal case related to land in Visakhapatnam.

Margadarsi MD grilled by IT officials

2008/3/19 14:44:36 The MD of Margadarsi Chits and Financiers Sailaja Kiron, wife of Eenadu MD Ch Kiron was summoned by the IT officials yesterday. She was questioned for over an hour. Sailaja was asked to explain some irregularities in Margadarsi financers and also the transfer of fund between the two groups.

A large media contingent was present outside the IT office. But Sailaja refused to talk to the media. She covered her face with the pallu of her sari and evaded the waiting photographers and videographers. Ramoji Rao and Kiron also adopted similar tactics when they surrender in a police station in Visakhapatnam recently. They were shielded by personal bodyguards with the help of big umbrellas. The media was obstructed from doing its duty.

The same Ramoji Rao does not leave a chance to cry hoarse about press freedom from the rooftops at the slightest opportunity. But when it comes to himself, he adopts a different yardstick.

Why, Ramoji Rao and Chandrababu run after Jagan?

2011/3/16 6:51:20 Many of us very well know about the strong bond between TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and media baron Ramoji Rao. They both chalk out an action plan first and then move separately but in parallel and in one direction to achieve a common goal. They are repeating the same feat again, against YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy, who recently has announced his party.

If, he is not pulled down to ground level at this moment, certainly he is going to make his impact the future of TDP in the days to come. If, he announces his support for Telangana, then all he has to do is to play a win and win game in the next general elections. So, it is high time for TDP to pull down him. While, TDP has initiated its attacks on Jagan through it’s petitions in the high court and giving representation to Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh against him, media baron Ramoji Rao also starts attacking Jagan in parallel to TDP, through his media networks.

TDP already lost its credibility in Telangana region because of Chandrababu’s ‘two-eyes’ policy. More over, in the wake of Telangana agitations and its results, TRS has emerged as the only one favored party for all the Telangana people. So, TDP need not to think about contesting in the Telangana region in the next general elections.
With Congress fast loosing its credibility in the state and with Jagan emerging as the only alternative for Congress party, TDP fears that even if he can’t make a clean swipe in the next general elections he may play a spoil sport like PRP did in the last general elections, with which TDP has to be confined itself to Opposition benches for the consequent term. If, it allows Jagan to grow his way, then TDP will be the first victim of his growth. So, TDP has pressed the panic button and goes against him at Centre and in the High Court.

At the same time, Ramoji Rao, the hand in gloves of TDP has intensified his attacks on YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy and his illegal assets through his media networks. Although, he has to surrender before the Visakhapatnam Court on just yesterday for encroaching the land of Mr.Varma who has leased his prime lands for Eenadu group, Ramoji Rao is slinging mud against Jagan through his media networks for the same reasons.

Perhaps, Jagan or late YSR might be involved in shady land deals but, certainly a person like Ramoji Rao who is noted for his land encroachments of his Ramoji Film City and Eenadu group has no right to point out at others on the same point.

He has published a lengthy story on Jagan and his father late YSR on how they possessed the Rs.400 crores worth ‘Commerce@Mantri’ building in Bangalore city. Undoubtedly, if there is any shady deals found on Jagan’s part, he need to be prosecuted, but at the same time we should know that neither Ramoji Rao nor Chandrababu caries a clean record.
