Former chief minister Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy on Monday reportedly had no kind words to say about Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during his meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi to brief her about the latest political situation in the state.
According to highly placed sources, Mr Janardhan Reddy told Ms Sonia Gandhi that Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy was taking decisions unilaterally and was disregarding the advice of senior leaders.
Talking to media persons after his meeting with Ms Sonia Gandhi, the former chief minister stated that he had informed her over the developments in the state after the defeat of Congress candidates DL Ravindra Reddy and YS Vivekananda Reddy in the by-elections for the Kadapa Parliamentary and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.
Mr Janardhan Reddy further revealed that he had informed Ms Sonia Gandhi over the uncertain political situation after the outcome of by-election results and appealed her to take necessary steps to strengthen the party at grassroots level.
Highly placed sources say that the former chief minister not only expressed his strong displeasure over Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy’s style of functioning, but also complained that the Chief Minister was not following the tradition of taking advice of senior leaders and acting unilaterally.
The sources say that Mr Janardhan Reddy also discussed the filling up of nominated posts.
However, Mr Janardhan Reddy did not talk about this during his interaction with the press. He however vowed that he would continue as an integrationist till his last breath, when asked.
Mr Janardhan Reddy further stated that it was not necessary that the post of Pradesh Congress Committee president should go to a leader from Telangana region as the Chief Minister belongs to Seemandhra regions. “There is no such tradition,” he said.
He also added that the High Command would take a decision Deputy Chief Minister post ‘soon.’
He had met the All India Congress president as part of the High Command’s efforts to elicit opinion about the party position in the state. The High Command has already set in motion a process to streamline the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh and the regular meeting of senior leaders from Andhra Pradesh is part of this process. As part of these measures, the High Command has already replaced Mr Veerappa Moily with Ghulam Nabi Azad as the state In-Charge of Party Affairs.
This is the question that comes to mind at the venue of Sonia’s meeting in Andhra Pradesh. Enthusiastic supporters of YS Rajashekar Reddy have put up huge cutouts of Sonia Gandhi and Y S Rajashekar Reddy. At one place they have even put up cutouts of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
So far, so good. But the party workers went overboard. The cutouts of Jagan are bigger than that of Sonia Gandhi. This came to the notice of chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy and he immediately ordered their removal. Wonder what the repercussions would have been, had Sonia seen the huge cutouts of Jagan.

Talking to media persons at Minister’s Quarters, the newly appointed PCC chief also thanked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Congress Core Committee members for reposing faith on himself and for placing such a major responsibility on his shoulders.
Stating that he would play a crucial role between people and government, the PCC chief sought the cooperation of all workers to take the government schemes and programmes to the doorsteps of people.
He also sought their cooperation to rejuvenate the party from gram and village levels.
Mr Satyanarayana said that he would meet all leaders including former chief ministers Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, K Rosaiah and all senior leaders for next two days and have discussions over strengthening the party before taking charge.
Reacting to question, he said there is no differentiation between party and government.
“I will act as mediator between government, party and people and take all programmes and schemes to doorsteps of people,” Mr Satyanarayana stated.
Reiterating that youth would play major role in the party activities, he said their services would be utilized in taking government schemes to villages and in popularizing them.
Earlier, Mr Satyanarayana was given a red carpet welcome at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad when he arrived in the city from New Delhi after meeting the high command.
Ministers Danam Nagender, Komatireddy Venkatreddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and P Balraju, MP Anjan Kumar and MLAs garlanded him at the airport and took him in a procession from the airport.
2011/8/6 8:20:47 Congress party official spokes person Janardhan Dwivedi has told the media that, the operation of AICC president Sonia Gandhi was successful and she was shifted to ICU on yesterday, in Memorial Sloan Catering Cancer Center in New York. He said, media should respect the privacy of such big personalities. Hence he refused to give any details further about her.
He said, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka and her husband Robert Wadera are now at New York with Sonia Gandhi. She has preferred to undergo surgery at New York only to avoid unnecessary attention of media, visitors and of course to avoid disturbance to other patients. It will also enable her to take complete rest without any disturbance from visitors. He said Sonia Gandhi may return home after 3-4 weeks depending on her health condition.
The maverick self styled ‘senior’ leader of the congress party K Kesava Rao is often known for speaking out of turn and out f context. KK got a promotion when he was given an opportunity to share the dais with party supremo Sonia Gandhi at the plenary session in New Delhi.
KK who was elated and cloud nine interacted with the media. He said that Madam Sonia Gandhi was very serious about corruption and said that it was a major issue. So she has asked the party leaders to encourage it at all levels! Poor KK was not aware as to what he was blabbering out in his excitement of sharing the dais with Sonia Gandhi.
Luckily for him not many people can comprehend what he says – so his comments could well go unnoticed!
The suspense over whether Amitabh Bachan will invite the Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the wedding of his son Abhisekh with Aishwarya Rai continues. It needs no mention that the first lady of politics and the legend of Bollywood are not in talking terms.
Their relationship has soured over the years with Amitabh getting closer to Mulayam. And everyone knows that Sonia cannot stand Mulayam. Jaya Bachan is also an elected member of the Rajya Sabha backed by Samajwadi Party.
Amitabh and Rajiv Gandhi were best friend at one time. Now it remains to be seen if Amitabh forgets the past and invites Sonia Gandhi for the wedding. And whether Sonia will accept the invitation and attend the wedding, which is being hyped as the wedding of the year.
As usual, the Rajamundry MP Undavalli Arun Kumar was the translator of Madam Sonia Gandhi's speech today. Sonia Gandhi addressed a big rally at Jaggampet in East Godavari district. Sonia spoke at length about the UPA government's achievements and also the performance of YS Rajashekar Reddy's government. However it was Arun Kumar's translation of her speech that sounded much more bombastic.
Arun Kumar went overboard with his translation. Instead of sticking to what Sonia Gandhi said in her speech, Arun Kumar peppered it up with his own comments and observations. It was clear for many people sitting on the dais that Arun Kumar was adding his own words to Sonia's speech.
A big public meeting was planned in Hyderabad on March 14. Sonia was scheduled to inaugurate the new international airport at Shamshabad on March 14. The commercial operations will commence from March 16.
The recent rebellion lead by some senior congress leaders including G Venakataswamy and the subsequent developments has cast a shadow on her visit.
The cancellation of Sonia’s visit is definitely a big blow to chief minister YS Rajashekar Reddy. He had taken it upon himself to make the rally a huge success. The rebel group also faces some embarrassment as they had hoped that Sonia would call them and lend a patient hearing.
She did not grant an audience to the senior congress leaders when they camped in Delhi for over a week. Both the chief minister and the leader of the rebel group G Venkataswamy are yet to react officially to the cancellation of Sonia’s visit and her public rally.
For Sonia, she would have opted to duck out as she would be under pressure to say something about Telangana – either positive or negative. She is not in a position to say anything. So she has chosen the safe way out – duck the issue completely for some time.
Congreess president is coming to Andhra Pradesh today to unveil some welfare schemes. The APCC has made elaborate arrangements for her visit.
The party is also mobilizing people in large numbers. Sonia is scheduled to visit Rajamumdry, Guntur and Eluru. The visit of Sonia Gandhi is causing some problems for the organizers. The heavy rains in the area have washed away some of the arrangement s that were put in place.
The sky is still overcast and a slight drizzle is seen in Rajamundry and Eluru. The congressmen hope that the clouds would clear by afternoon and make Sonia’s visit smooth and successful. They are even praying at temples for the rain to stop!
The AICC chief Sonia Gandhi's visit to the state has been on the mind of the state government for a long time. She is the chief guest and was invited to inaugurate the Pushkaram Lift Irrigation project.
But to the surprise of everyone and to the horror of the chief minster, Sonia Gandhi's name was missing from the pylon! She is the chief guest and her name is not mentioned any where on the pylon. Chief minster YS Rajashekar Reddy's name and the name of the irrigation minster Ponnala and Verppa Moily's names are there very prominently. YSR has taken a serious note of this.

It is now slowly dawning on the TRS as well as congress party leaders from Telangana that there is no possibility of a separate Telangana any time soon.
Sonia Gandhi is not at all amused with the threat of resignation announced by Telangana congress MLAs and MPs. Sonia is reported to have conveyed through Pranab that the high command will not buckle under any kind of pressure tactics.
The Telangana congress leaders have been told clearly that they can go ahead and submit their resignations. The congress high command now has bigger problems on hand like the Jagan issue and the losing popularity of the congress not only in the state but in the entire country.
