Agriculture minister YS Vivekananda Reddy who is now getting ready to contest the Pulivednula assembly seat is not very sure about his victory.
Viveka said that it was not easy for the congress party to win in Pulivendula and Kadapa. Viveka in a way has acknowledged that YS Jagan is a real force in Kadapa and the congress may not be able to match up to him in charisma and garner votes.
Viveka is also making efforts to get the party ticket for his son-in-law for the Kadapa parliamentary seat to fight against YS Jagan.
2010/12/25 12:59:32 Though they parted ways, the minister for agriculture, Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, and former Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, came together on the eve of a Christmas at the residence of YSR’s close relative, Mr C.V. Subba Reddy, in Pulivendula of Kadapa district on Friday.
Speculations were rife that there was a pact between the two. However, sources said that they only participated in prayers. It is reported that Mr Subba Reddy invited them to his residence and was obliged by both the families.
Earlier, he even expressed his readiness to take on Mr Jagan in the ensuing bypolls in Pulivendula constituency. Mr Viveka’s wife Soubhagyamma and daughter Sunita Reddy paid tributes to YSR at his ghat in Idupulapaya and had lunch with Jagan’s family members.
With the polling in Kadapa and Pulivendula now over the attention of everyone has now shifted to the result.
While we have to wait until May 13 to know the result, the various informal surveys and general talk in Kadapa and elsewhere is that Jagan and Vijayamma are sure shot winners.
There is no doubt whatsoever in anyone’s mind about the result. The only interest now is the margin of victory. Many people in Kadapa say that there is no chance of DL Ravindra Reddy even retaining his deposit. The same is being cited about YS Vivekananda Reddy.
When YS Vivekandanda Reddy called on his nephew Jagan he faced some embarrassing moments.
The supporters of Jagan raised slogans against Viveka the moment he stepped out of Jagan’s house and asked him to quit his minister post.
They also tried to prevent him from leaving by obstructing the passage of his car. An angry Viveka warned the slogan shouting supporters and even twirled his moustache to send a clear signal that he is ready to take on the supporters of Jagan.
The campaigning in Kadapa has now come to an end. This was the bitterest campaign ever in the history of Andhra Pradesh. YS Jagan is fighting from Kadapa Lok Sabha while his mother Vijayamma is contesting for the Pulivendula assembly seat.
The ruling congress party is using every trick in the trade to defeat Jagan. The congress party has pressed into service more than half a dozen ministers in Kadap. In addition, the party has also brought in Chiranjeevi to Kadapa.
Still as per popular mood, Jagan is far ahead of his congress and TDP rivals. The people do not have much doubt as to who will win – the suspense is over the majority. Jagan hopes to win with over three lakhs majority.
The polling is on May 8 but we have to wait till May 13 for the result as the votes will be counted only then.
The congress party is going all out in Kadapa to defeat Jagan at any cost. The congress party election managers are of the view that the only way to take on Jagan successfully would be by targeting at his MLAs.
Therefore, big operation has been on in Kadapa. The congress won the first round when it managed to wean away the Budwel MLA Kamalamma from the Jagan camp.
Kamalamma had been supporting Jagan for some time but she has now suddenly gone back to the congress.
With this, the first wicket has fallen in the Jagan camp.
2011/4/20 13:18:51 DL.Ravindra Reddy, the Congress candidate for Kadapa constituency has come up with a new story against his rival YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy. Today, during his campaigning at some Muslim dominated areas in Kadapa, he told the people that if they vote to Jagan Mohan Reddy they will be betrayed by him because he is going to make alliance with radical Hindu party BJP after the by-elections. He also warned that, they will become orphans if they elect him as there will be no other leader to look after them.
But, Jagan followers reminds the voters that Jagan Mohan Reddy has refused to make any tie-up with BJP in the very initial stages of his political career. They have described that, Ravindra Reddy is desperately trying to spread some negative stories about Jagan Mohan Reddy only because he very well understood that he is on the wedge of his defeat.
2011/4/8 3:56:23 The century old Congress party has no candidates to field against YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Kadapa by-elections. Although, it managed to pull out Kandhula brothers out from Telugu Desam party it couldn’t convince them to contest against YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy in Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. The Jagan phobia is so immense in the Congress party, that many of the senior Congress leaders are avoiding direct contact with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president D.Srinivas, fearing a request from them to take upon YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy in the by-elections.
Finally, Chief Minister makes his own minister Dr.DL.Ravindra Reddy as scapegoat in this issue. Earlier, several times DL has thrown challenges to Jagan Mohan Reddy to face him if he can in the elections. Now, though he is not all interested, he was forced to contest against Jagan for the same reasons.
There were times when many of the Congress leaders have repeatedly stated that, Kadapa district is not Jagan’s own property and even if an office peon stands on Congress behalf, he can win in the elections in Kadapa. Congress is going to wipe off Jagan’s newly launched political party in these by-elections and so on. But, when it comes to reality the situation is different. No one is available for Congress party to take upon Jagan. What if, YS.Vivekananada Reddy too denies to contest in the elections?
The ugly fracas in the Assembly is turning into a major embarrassment for the government. Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is under pressure from TDP and other members to take action against YS Vivekananda Reddy.
Some reports say that YS Vivekananada Reddy has decided to submit his resignation. His term as MLC is also ending on Tuesday.
With no congressman coming to his rescue, Viveka is now seriously mulling about continuing in the congress.
He may now side with Jagan and this will surely be a big boost to the YSR Congress.
YS Vivekananda Reddy the congress party candidate from the Pulivendula assembly seat expressed confidence that he will win the election. Viveka is contesting against Vijayamma wife of late YS Rajashekar Reddy.
Viveka said that there was large scale cross voting in his favor and he is confident of victory.
With by-elections round the corner, the situation in Kadapa and Pulivendhula constituencies is gradually getting tense. While, Jagan Mohan Reddy is striving hard to win the elections with bumper majority, the other two are contesting the elections with a common goal of defeating him at any cost, so as they can cut down their common enemy Jagan to ground level.
It is a straight fight in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency between YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy and Congress candidate DL.Ravindra Reddy. Though, TDP candidate Mysoora Reddy joins the fray, it is only meant to split the votes and to reduce YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy’s majority in a big way.
Though, Mysoora enjoys a good reputation and good relations with the locals, it may not come to his help anyway because, these elections even become an acid test to the voters, who have to clearly spell whether they are hugging or rejecting Jagan Mohan Reddy. So, Mysoora's candidature will comes into count only if the people of Kadapa differs with Jagan Mohan Reddy.
DLR also very well knows that, he become scapegoat because of his loose tongue that used to flay Jagan Mohan Reddy all the time. But, now he has reached to a point of no return and he has no other option but to face Jagan wearing a bold face. His arrogant nature and his bad interaction with media people may show its impact on the verdict.
While, YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy has good rapport with the people of his constituency, DLR has the full support of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and backing of his battalion of ministers who were camping in Kadapa now. Whether, all those 14 ministers deployed in Kadapa can influence the Kadapa voters or not is a million dollar question. This is the only factor that may play crucial role in changing the voter’s verdict.
The election commission has banned pre-poll surveys. Still, some private agencies and some individuals conducted their own surveys. The result of the surveys all predict a big win for Jagan in Kadapa.
In Pulivendula, the sympathy factor is said to have worked heavily. Therefore it is almost certain that Vijayamma, wife of late YS Rajashekar Reddy will be elected with a fairly good margin.
here are some of the poll predictions

The newly christened congress leader Chiranjeevi is now campaigning in Kadapa. He is getting good crowds but it remains to be seen how many of them translate into votes.
Chiranjeevi was greeted with protests and slogans at some places. Eggs and tomatoes were thrown at him. At one place, some youngsters in the crowd even tried to hurl chappals at him but they did not hit him.
Chiranjeevi who was clearly embarrassed and shocked by the incidents called Jagan a rowdy. He said that if Jagan wins in Kadapa then there will be large scale rowdyism in the state.
Who is contesting against whom in the by-elections?
While, the newly floated YSRC party lead by YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy is first to officially announce its party candidates for the Kadapa and Pulivendhula constituencies for the by-elections, the other two major parties Congress and TDP are still struggling to spell their candidates for the by-election.
YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy is contesting from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency and his mother YS.Vijaya Lakshmi is contesting from Pulivendhula Assembly constituency. Both, she and her daughter-in-law Bharati have started campaigning in the constituencies.
According to latest news, TDP is going to stall Putta Chaitanya Reddy opposite Jagan and B.Tech Ravindranath Reddy opposite YS.Vijaya Lakshmi.
So far, Congress party has not announced its candidates, but it is going to stall YS.Vivekananda Reddy opposite YS.Vijaya Lakshmi. Its candidate for Kadapa constituency not yet announced
It is fun to see the 125 years old Congress party and 30 years old Telugu Desam Party have find it hard to face the just new born baby –YSR Congress party and its president YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Kadapa Pulivendhula by-elections. Both these senior parties were sweating to find out suitable candidates to take upon Jagan Mohan Reddy and his mother Vijaya Lakshmi in the forth coming by-elections in Kadapa.
After, going through several rounds of negotiations with his part leaders TDP president Chandrababu Naidu some how traced out two names B.Tech Ravindra (Raja) for Pulivendhula constituency and MV Mysura Reddy to take upon Jagan at Kadapa.
But, it is more miserable state for the 125 years old Congress party which until now couldn’t find a person to take upon Jagan. However, it encouraged senior TDP leader Kandhula Raja Mohan Reddy in Kadapa to migrate into Congress party by offering him party ticket to contest from Kadapa constituency opposite Jagan Mohan Reddy. He even said to be assured of getting some alternative post, in case he defeated by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
