We have news from reliable sources that Shah Rukh Khan has been approached by entertainment bigwig Walt Disney Pictures. The world famous company is keen to invest in SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment. Buzz is that they have offered to invest a whopping $30 million into the deal.
Representatives of Walt Disney Pictures flew down from Los Angles to London, where SRK was staying on his last trip to the UK. Given SRK's popularity abroad, other international companies like Sony Pictures and Rupert Murdoch's company had also shown interest in investing in Red Chillies Entertainment. Although SRK hasn't confirmed the deal yet, it might be interesting if he decides to do so."
When contacted Bobby Chawla, Shah Rukh's manager confirmed the news without divulging too many details. He said, "I don't want to comment on this subject. I only know that Walt Disney officials had met Shah Rukh, but I am not too sure what happened after that." Meanwhile Arjun Mitra, head of Red Chillies Studio, said, "All the information you're seeking is highly confidential and I can't talk about it."
However, our source reveals, "This is the second time that Walt Disney Pictures have tried to get in touch with SRK. The first time SRK couldn't meet them as he was too tied up with work. His manager, Bobby met the officials. But this time in London he was relatively free and did meet them finally."

Kamal Haasan, brand ambassador for Project Hridaya Ragam 2008, surprised everyone present at a charity function held this evening at Greenpark Hotel, Chennai, when he agreed to talk a little bit about Dasavatharam. WMC (World Malayalee Council) Chennai Province will be conducting free paediatric heart surgeries under the Project Hridaya Ragam 2008. Along with
Kamal, present at the event were donors and others concerned with the project. The projects aim is to raise money for a 100 free heart surgeries for poor children. Malayalam Manorama said that they would like to raise funds for another 25 free paediatric heart surgeries.
As the evening drew to a close, people began to ask Kamal about Dasavatharam, Kamal replied with amusement that everywhere he went he was unfailingly asked about the movie, and his answer has always remained the same: that he cant reveal anything yet. But this evening all that changes, he said suddenly, surprising everyone there. The film will be released in April, he added, and the audio in March. He went on to praise the work of young music composer Himesh Reshammiya. Here is a North Indian, pointed out Kamal, who has composed music that beautifully and perfectly evokes all that is South Indian. Especially period music and songs that evoke 12th century South India.
Someone else asked him about a proposed project with Walt Disney. The usually taciturn Kamal Haasan admitted that talks were on to get the Walt Disney project off the ground. Kamal opening up over Dasavatharam, long kept under strict wraps, is indeed great news for fans. From now on, we can hopefully expect Kamal to reveal more.
Disney presents High School Musical, Bollywood style
The smash hit Disney Channel original movie High School Musical, which has delivered a platinum-selling soundtrack worldwide and has received numerous honors including two Emmy Awards, is set to sing and dance its way in to India on September 24 at 11 am on Disney Channel.
Customized for India's kids, tweens and families, the dialogue and hugely popular songs are re-recorded in Hindi, with Indian instruments added for Bollywood flair.
Nachiket Pantvaidya, executive director Programming and Production, Walt Disney Television International (India) said, High School Musical symbolizes all that Disney Channel means for kids in terms of following ones dreams and believing in oneself. Millions of kids across the globe have not just cherished the movie, they have adopted it into their lives. They have learnt the dance steps, sung the songs and relate their dreams and aspirations in those of the characters and the plot of the movie.
We have made the music all the more relevant to our Hindi audiences across India by adding the artistry of music industry stars including Sunidhi Chauhan, Naresh Kamath, Shweta Pandit, Neuman Pinto, director John Stewart and programmer DJ G & John Stewart, Nachiket added.
Disney Channel will provide an interactive experience for kids to express themselves through a nationwide music video dance contest, My School Rocks, with announcement of audition venues and dates to be detailed on Sunday on Disney Channel.
Packed with laughter, memorable songs and spectacular dancing, High School Musical tells the story of two high school students Troy, a popular basketball player and Gabriella, a shy, brainy newcomer who share a secret passion for singing.
When these two seemingly polar opposites decide to join forces and go out for the lead roles in the school musical, it wreaks havoc on East Highs rigid social order. In a desperate effort to maintain the status quo, the schools various cliques conspire to separate the pair and keep them from performing.
But by defying expectations and pursuing their dreams, Troy and Gabriella inspire other students to go public with some surprising hidden talents of their own.
The film Anaganaga O Dheerdu has hit the screens today. The film is directed by Prakash son of legendary K Raghavendra Rao. Walt Disney produced the film jointly with K Raghavendra Rao.
The film is a fairytale and set in exotic kingdom called Sanga Rashtra. The graphics, settings, costumes, camera work VFX, sound and everything technical is excellent and on par with Hollywood standards.
However the story is weak and the characterization lacks depth. This lack of emotional quotient is the biggest drawback for the film.
Therefore AOD ends up as a half good and half bad film. The director while giving top preference to technical aspects has forgotten that it is the emotional aspects that connect the audiences to the film. Sadly they are missing in the film.
Kamal has stated that he was disturbed by Sruthi's decision.
Kamal has said that his daughter's choice of music and acting were done under his guidance. He has added that he stops with advice and never interferes in the decision. Kamal has stated that he was disturbed when Sruthi wanted to act. But the way she went about choosing the story has calmed him.
Given the right story, Kamal wants to act along with Sruthi. It would be better if it were a father-daughter story. Kamal has assured that his next film would be 'Marmayogi'. But its launch would take some time. Discussions are taking place with Hollywood's
Even as he is busy with the release of his Tamil film Dasavatharam, Kamal Haasan has started work on his next project Marmayogi that is set in the 7th century. To be made in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam, his fourth directorial film is being produced by Walt Disney Productions in collaboration with Bharatbala Productions and Adlabs. Also starring Hema Malini, it has music by AR Rahman. Meanwhile the numero uno actor will be seen in in ten diverse roles in Dasavatharam that is set for release in April. Asin and Mallika Sherawat are in the female leads with music by Himesh Reshammiya.
What was amazing to see was that despite being tied up with work, the superstar made a fleeting visit to Mumbai recently to be with his elder daughter. Shruti Haasan performed at Mumbais Hard Rock Café during the launch of Rolling Stone magazine, where she belted out her own compositions. She is also making her acting debut in a Tamil film being directed by Nishikant Kamat and starring R Madhavan. And there was a proud father all out to support his daughter in her attempt to prove her talent.

2008/4/29 7:53:48 Situated on the outskirts of Mumbai at Karjat, the sprawling ND studios owned and promoted by ace art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai, has attracted the attention of Hollywood studios as well.
Leading the pack is 20th Century Fox, which plans to shoot its television serial at ND studios. "At present, both parties are involved in designing and scheduling the sets. The actual shooting will begin in October this year," Nitin Desai said in Mumbai.
Similarly, ND studios is also in talks with Walt Disney studio for shooting of the latter's film on ancient, present and futuristic India, Desai said.
The Walt Disney film will start in January 2009," he added.
Besides this, French film company Gaumount is also going to shoot its upcoming movie Templar at ND studios after monsoon.
Currently, filmmaker Indra Kumar is shooting his next movie at the studio. Also, NDTV Imagine and 9X television channels have booked the studio for their television shows.
9X's magnum opus Mahabarat will be shot at ND studios.
The studio, founded by Desai three years ago, offers a variety of outdoor locations for filmmakers who want to break free from travelling within Mumbai to Filmcity, Yashraj, Filmistan, Mehboob, Kamlistan, RK Studios among others.
Spread over 40 acres in Karjat, ND Studio was rechristiened Big ND Studios after Reliance acquired 50 per cent stake in it.
Big ND Studio offers open spaces, havelis, forts and two huge floors measuring 240/100 ft for indoor shootings. ND Studio boasts of being the location site of films like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Jodhaa Akbar and Traffic Signal among many others.
Reliance Entertainment had picked up 50 per cent in the studio for about Rs 150 crore.
Since the acquisition, Desai continues to manage while Reliance Entertainment is focussing on scaling up the studio.
The long-term goal is to make it the biggest studio in the world on the lines of Universal Studios in Hollywood.
According to Reliance Entertainment sources, the move was clearly in tandem with the plans of Reliance Entertainment, which is aiming to be an aggressive player in the film production arena.
Sources said the studio will be upgraded significantly to cater to Bollywood and Hollywood needs.
Desai said that the studio was looking at line production for Hollywood in a major way. The plan is to add 12 more floors and town squares that are like European location, Mumbai, and Singapore.
Apart from Bollywood, the other focus is to attract a lot more Hollywood productions to shoot in the studio, on the back of cheap labour and technical expertise.
Line production, which essentially means outsourcing of shooting operations, is an emerging concept in the Indian film industry. Reliance Entertainment sees it as big opportunity by scaling up existing studios like ND.
To transform them into a world class production facility, ND Studio is also building a 400/240 feet tall shooting floor, which will then qualify as the largest in the world.
Reliance Entertainment also sees ND Studio evolving into a tourist attraction over the next few years, much like iconic studios like Universal Studios, a subsidiary of NBC Universal, one of the biggest American studios.
A week after her controversial Vanity Fair portrait was revealed, Miley Cyrus rocked the stage and thanked her fans at the Disney Channel Games concert Saturday night.
"I hope you had an awesome time," Cyrus told the crowd after performing her set. "I saw a sign back there that said, 'Miley, I'm praying for you.' I could not be more appreciative. Thank you guys for all your support. Without you, none of this would be possible. I love everyone of you and I could not be more appreciative. God bless you."
Cyrus kicked off the night with "See You Again" and also debuted two new songs, "Fly on the Wall" and "Breakout," off her upcoming album, dropping on July 22.
Even the downpour didn't dampen the spirits of her fans, who stood in front of the stage and chanted "Miley" in between numbers.
The Jonas Brothers, the Cheetah Girls, Camp Rock star Demi Lovato and Jordan Pruitt also performed at the outdoor show, which capped off the week-long Disney Channel Games. The concert will air in July.
In preparation for her performance, Cyrus opted to skip Friday night's Disney Channel Games media party.
The hard work continued until just an hour before the show, when Cyrus clad in a white tank top, white jeans and gold earrings was spotted still putting the finishing touches on her routine and bouncing around on stage with her dancers.
Movie buffs can look forward to the country's first animation feature film "Roadside Romeo" being produced by filmmaker Yash Chopra in collaboration with Walt Disney.
The film is expected to be released next June, Chopra told reporters here on Tuesday night.
"India has a big potential for animated film industry which has assumed massive proportions in the West," Chopra, who was here to receive the 'Zenith Asia' award conferred on him at the Fifth Asian Film Festival, said.
Asked about the simultaneous release of Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om" and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Saawariya", the noted producer-director said it was wrong to suggest that professional rivalry had prompted the timing.
"Diwali being an auspicious occasion, it is natural that producers would want a gala release of their films," he said.
"It is more of a media hype rather than a battle between two banners", he said.
On his forthcoming film "Aaja Nachle" which would mark the "come back" of Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit, Chopra said the movie theme has been taken from the life of the actress, now settled in the US.
He said it had been his conviction that "a strong script never fails."
On whether his home production "Chak de India" would have been successful without Shah Rukh Khan's presence, he replied in the affirmative, but added that "lekin Shah Rukh ne char chand laga diye (Shah Rukh was par excellence)."
Earlier, Chopra was felicitated by Asian Film Foundation Chairman Kiran Shantaram.
Recently there were a lot of speculations in the media on actress Priyanka Chopra signing a three film deal with UTV. When we checked with Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV a couple of days back, he replied saying, "We don't have any conformation to make right now. I would neither confirm nor deny this. When we have something to announce we will do it at that time."
But it's official now! UTV has signed Priyanka Chopra for a three film non-exclusive deal that will span over 4 years. A key aspect of the partnership will be her active involvement in the creative areas of the films.
This landmark deal is a one-of-its-kind for a leading lady in Bollywood and marks a significant move by UTV to drive the corporatisation of the movie business. The association with UTV cements Priyanka's leadership position in the film industry today. As per the details of the 3-film association, Priyanka will be involved in the creative brainstorming process of the films including the shortlisting of scripts and genres.
Announcing the deal, Mr. Ram Mirchandani, Senior VP-Creative and Projects, UTV Motion Pictures said, "We are very proud to be associated with Priyanka. She is undoubtedly the reigning star on celluloid today. Her achievements, in a relatively short span of time, are remarkable. Priyanka is today recognized as one of the most 'bankable' stars that we have. Her ability to straddle a variety of roles is reflective of her immense talent. We are very excited about this partnership and look forward to our long-term relationship with Priyanka."
Priyanka Chopra is equally excited and says, "The basis of our relationship is that of mutual respect and creativity. This association presents an amazing opportunity for me to work in a challenging, creative environment with some of the best minds in the industry. I am looking forward to creating celluloid magic together!" The non-exclusivity of the deal implies that Priyanka can also sign films outside the UTV banner but has to do at least 3 films with UTV in a span of 4 years.
The Priyanka-UTV deal further strengthens UTV's credence for pioneering the Studio Model in India. Its strategic relationships with international studios like 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney and along with Will Smith's Overbrook have already positioned UTV as the leading South-Asian Company in the international movie arena. Its slate of over 12 movies includes Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and International co-productions, making it the largest movie studio in South Asia.

2014/2/4 7:52:46 There has been too much talk about Shahid Kapoor and his looks in Vishal Bhardwaj and Disney UTVâs Haider, and what we got to see was stunning.
Shahid sports a neat buzz-cut in the movie that will see him play the desi Hamlet. After giving you the cult hit, Kaminey, the trio of Vishal Bhardwaj, Shahid Kapoor and Disney UTV brings you Haider that is set to release on September 12, 2014.
Haider, also stars Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon. It is Vishal Bhardwajâs interpretation of Shakespeareâs Hamlet.
Commenting on the look Shahid said, âI believe in the script and have completely surrendered to Vishal Sirâs vision on my character and my look.â
Currently Shahid Kapoor has been filming a song for Haider at the Sun Temple in Mattan, seventy kilometer from Srinagar.
âDisney UTV Studiosâ previous association with Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor delivered Kaminey. The audiences have long awaited the next installment from this team, and in Haider we believe the audiences will find the wait was well worth it. Haider is set against the backdrop of militancy in Kashmir, and has some remarkable performances and great music. We believe Haider will be a worthy successor to Maqbool and Omkara,â says a very upbeat Amar Butala, Creative Director, Studios, Disney UTV.
Recently Shahid Kapoor and Irrfan Khan were attacked with a fire pot while the duo was shooting for Vishal Bhardwajâs Haider in Kashmir.
A source at the location said, âThe shooting was in progress and both Shahid Kapoor and Irrfan were moving towards a car when suddenly somebody from the crowd threw a Kangri (fire pot) which hit Irrfan and the ash whirling in air touched Shahid Kapoor as well,â he said.
One of the crew members said that the incident took place while they were shooting for a kidnapping sequence in the film. The source said that soon after the incident the spectators started fleeing from the spot.
The cast and crew of Haider returned to the valley on January 27 2104. This is the last phase of the shooting for the film here. The crew will be in Kashmir for about a month now.
