This movie will be a vigorous blow for so many idiots! -Cheran got emotional during Tamil M.A audio releasing function!
Tamil, not only gave me peace...but also thought me how to practice Routhiram, said actor jeevaJeeva. Jeeva's next shock has started in the theatre screen. On one side, his bright eyes is seen inside a broken spec, the beard which hides the face, the heroin (ganja), which takes him to another state of mind...This Jeeva, is new to Tamil.
Grinding and giving 6 kilos of wheat and rava, without knowing the exact quantity and getting more Whispers, at last I got the job as a Tamil teacher! -The statement of a Tamil teacher who faces disappointed and lots of stress which flows in the theatre screen, Ram, the director of Tamil M.A has started making the audience in the theatre to feel & register in their hearts that, this is a not a usual kind of movie.
During the audio releasing function which held at the Film Chamber, they made the Malayalam anjaliand kannada producers also to speak in Tamil and gave more importance to Tamil. Directors like Balu Mahendra, Thankar Bachaan, Parthiban, Cheran and also Simbu Devan had also come for this function. Except the Heroine, the only 'female' who came to the stage was Veteran director Manirathinam's spouse and actress Suhasini. Though it was his Birthday, actor Jeyam Ravi had postponed his party and celebration and came for this function.
Thankar refused to go up on the stage maybe because of, they might kindle his mouth and even they will put seed for creating any gossips or make that as an issue. Cheran who did not had this talent, as usual he who started speaking from his tongue, '.....Nee!'('...you!') for those who are thinking that Tamil is only their life and have not learned any other languages, this movie is going to be a vigorous blow (Sawhoku adi) for so many idiots, Some for generations, who are advising and teaching others to learn only Tamil, and the same group which makes their future generations (sons) to study and learn different language, he emotionally pointed some of them for this matter indirectly.
The camera unit which was used for this movie belongs to Madras Talkies. While Suhasini spoke about that and when she told that she will surely give discount for this movie, a round of heavy applause came from the audience and fans. Parthiban who spoke about the heroine Anjali told that, I won't tell that she looks like the next house girl. Because, there is no such a beautiful girl in my next house. In a flow, he also told that his next house is also vacant either. Though does not know Tamil, Anjali who stubbornly spoke in Tamil has only given the voice for this movie, he added. It is surprising that, before this entire thing had happened, she has fell in director Ram's feet and got his blessings.
I am also a graduate who studied Tamil M.A. I have killed those people who have worried and hurt me in my real life but, in the form of a screen play. Waiting is necessary in Cinema. The director of this movie Ram told that, if waited patiently, cinema can be attained by any one of us.
Veteran director Balu Mahendra who started speaking that it gives him pride when he is telling that the director of this movie Ram is his student, and who was non stop speaking on and oooooon... about the common cinema, the crowd slowly started to move. It looks like Tamil might even make some to run right!
Zee's second coming in the Tamil satellite channel market news
Satellite channel major the Rs703 crore revenue Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited is making a serious come back attempt into the Tamil satellite channel market with Zee Tamizh. "We will start airing the channel in couple of months. We are in the
process of hiring able hands," says G Ramprasad, CEO, Zee South. A commerce graduate from Madras University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management - Kolkata, Ramprasad was earlier the president of TI Cycle, the bicycle division of Tube Investments of India Limited, part of the Murugappa group.
At Murugappa group Ramprasad has held several responsible positions. As the executive director of EID Parry India Ltd and the CEO of Parryware division, he contributed significantly to the transformation of the unit from an inward focussed to a market- and consumer-oriented one.
Prior to entering the portals of the Murugappa group Ramprasad had handled sales and marketing at various consumer goods companies such as Funskool India Ltd, Hindustan Lever Ltd and Sara Lee (in India). Speaking about his decision to get into a media company after selling sanitary ware and cycles, Ramprasad says, "The satellite channel scene in south is mature and it is time to look at positioning and promoting the channels vis-à-vis the competition. My current role is like any other head of business to strategise the channel's growth.
Earlier heading TI Cycles, the cycles division of Tube Investments of India Limited, Ramprasad moved to Zee earlier this month to head the company's southern operations. (See: Tube Investments: Movements at the top)
He will be responsible for Zee's existing Kannada and Telugu as well as the proposed Tamil and Malayalam channels.
The channel has hired V Chandrasekaar as the business head for Zee Tamizh and is on the look out for a person to head the Malayalam channel.
For Zee this is its second attempt in the Tamil satellite market - in 2001, sortly after launching Bharathi TV, the group wound up the Tamil channel's operations.
The failure was attributed to the problems it faced in reaching the homes as the last mile-the cable operations- was owned by rival channel network.
"Now the distribution scenario has changed. We have alternate mechanisms like direct to home players like group company Dish TV and Tata Sky to take our signals," says Ramprasad.
In addition the cable distribution scene has also changed in Tamil Nadu. As the equations between Sun Network that owned Sun Cable Vision the MSO and the ruling DMK party changed dramatically last year, the Tamil Nadu government is in the process of setting up its own cable distribution company.
Speaking about Zee Tamizh, Ramprasad says, "It will be a general entertainment channel. We are yet to finalise the programming mix and other aspects."
The entry of Zee Tamizh will take the total number to Tamil language satellite channels to 21.
Out of the existing 20 Tamil channels 13 are general entertainment channels, five music channels and only two news channels.
After the launch of Tamil and Malayalam channels, Zee will be the third group to have a presence in all the four southern languages.
While Sun Network with its boutique of channels is present in the four states, Raj Television Network has announced its plans to expand its presence in the south.
Meanwhile it is going to be difficult for Zee Tamil to get the movie rights as the competition is on the rise there by increasing the rates.
Ever since she became Rajnikanth’s heroine in Shankar-directed ‘Sivaji.’ Overnight she became the most happening girl in Kollywood, with the best banners and the pick of the superstars featuri ng opposite her – Vijay in ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan,’ Vikram in ‘Kandasaamy’ and other big stars trying to adjust their call sheets to suit her dates! No other actress in recent times has created such a big impact in Tamil films. And with Asin shifting base to Bollywood, Shriya rules the roost in Kollywood.
Her USP is her North Indian looks which our South Indian audience love — flawless skin, perfect figure, beautiful smile and, above all, that touch of class. She is a trained Kathak dancer and is literature graduate from the Lady Sriram College in New Delhi. Added to that, Shriya has proved to be lucky with her last release ‘Tiruvilayadal Aarambham’ turning out to be a surprise super hit that also resurrected the career of its hero Dhanush. Training in Kathak
The Haridwar-born Shriya Saran did her schooling at the upmarket Delhi Public School, where her mother Neeraja used to teach chemistry. Her mother is the biggest influence in her life and was instrumental in training her to be a Kathak dancer. Says Shriya: “My mother likes the sound of the ghungroo and was particular about my dance classes. I trained under Kathak exponent Shovana Narayan. Looking back, I realise how much my training has helped me, as our films are full of songs and dance which I enjoy doing.”
Shriya, like all other young people, while studying at Lady Sriram, started modelling which led to a music video that was noticed by a Telugu producer who cast her in ‘Ishtam’ (2001). The film, however, bombed. But it was Nagarjuna’s smash hit ‘Santosham’ (2002), that got her recognition in Telugu. From then on there was no stopping her, and she was paired with all the top guns such as Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu. So far, she has done 22 films in Telugu, including five special appearances.
Then she strayed into Tamil with Jayam Ravi in ‘Mazhai,’ that went unnoticed at the box-office. Then she got a call from director Shankar. She says: “One day, I got a call from Shankar sir who said he had seen me in ‘Mazhai.’ He said he was impressed with my looks and performance. He asked me if I was interested in being Rajnikanth’s heroine in ‘Sivaji.’ I could not believe it and immediately jumped at the opportunity. Then I came down to Chennai and met Shankar sir who said I did not need any make-up or screen test. He also gave me some DVDs of Rajni sir’s films and I watched all of them. I believe that ‘Sivaji’ was destined to come my way.” In ‘Sivaji,’ her screen name is Tamizh and she wears pavada-davani and is said to be a bubbly character. Shriya is in awe of the superstar Rajnikanth and says: “Rajni sir is truly a living legend in Indian cinema. I have never seen so much respect amon g the massed for any other actor. Thanks to him, I too am getting a lot of attention from fans and colleagues.”
Shriya is now shooting with the other superstar Vijay for ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan,’ where she plays a college student. Later this month, she will start the shoot for ‘Kandasaamy’ with Vikram. As of now, she plans to sign new films in Tamil only after completing her present assignments.
Shriya is also keeping her options open in Hindi where she has ‘Awarapaan’ with Emraan Hashmi (she informs us that there are no kissing scenes!), a film with Bobby Deol and Nana Patekar.
When asked, what makes her so happening, Shriya says with unbridled pride: “I am 54 kg. I eat well and am crazy about Thai cuisine and seafood but I’m particular about my work out too. I work out for at least 45 minutes every day. I believe it’s not keeping body in shape but fitness that matters. And during my spare time, I read a lot (her favourite authors — Paulo Coelho and Brian.L.Weiss).”
All these days, media was full of stories of how the yet to be launched Kalaingnar TV purchased the satellite rights of all latest films including Rajnikanth's Sivaji and the super hit of the year Mozhi.
Sun TV, the market leaders with the best Tamil film library in the world was keeping an extremely low profile, due to certain recent political happenings in the state. Now the latest we hear is that they have snapped up the television rights of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's mega hit of the year Pokiri and has also bagged his next release Azhagiya Tamizh Mahan which is under production!
It is not only the biggies but small films like Karan's Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar, and films under production like Bharath's Nepali and Palani too has been snapped up by Sun. All this has triggered off the biggest ever Tamil films satellite rights boom, as some individual players with deep pockets have also entered the race.
Ajit had given a date to ‘London’ Karuna of Ayngaran International, the leading overseas Tamil distributors more than a year back. Now the latest we hear is that Ajit will start work on this project, as soon as he completes Billa.
The buzz is that Shriya, the hot and happening girl will be Ajit’s heroine. By that time she would have completed Azhagiya Tamizh Magan with Vijay and would have also been through the first schedule of her Vikram starrer Kandasaamy.
For Shriya it is a major coup as she would have played heroine to top superstars in the industry- Rajnikanth, Vijay, Vikram and then Ajit. A film with Kamal Hassan is also in the pipeline, sometime in 2008!
K.S Ravi Kumar who has delivered two hits with Ajit- Villain and Vararaalu is the front runner to direct the film as he is committed to do a film for ‘London’ Karuna.
But Kollywood grapevine is also abuzz that Venkat Prabhu who did that trendsetter Chennai-600028 is emerging as a dark horse. Prabhu is likely to give a story narration to Ajit, sometime later in the month.
It is official that Vijay is the hero of Udayanidhi Stalin’s debut film as producer. The shoot of the film with a catchy title Kuruvi is likely to start sometime in September middle as soon as Vijay completes his Azhagiya Tamizh Mahan.
Dharani will be directing this action adventure mass movie. Vijay plays Kuruvi, not the chirpy bird, but a bird of a different type. The one line story, etched from sources- Vijay is a nice guy who lives in Burma Bazar, North Madras area of Chennai and makes a living as a ‘kuruvi’, a chap who goes to Singapore or Malaysia as a courier and comes back with contraband items. One day he is set up by the baddies, and how he uses his brains and brawns to prove his innocence forms the rest of the story.
The industry rumour is that it is Ghilli-2, as it has same star cast and music director. When contacted director Dharani refused to say anything about the film, but later said: “ It is not Ghilli-2, actually Kuruvi is something totally different, and features artists like Vijay, Trisha, Prakash Raj and has music by Vidyasagar.”
The CM YS Rajashekar Reddy said that he was ready to give 4,000 acres of land to media baron and Margadarsi chairman CH Ramoji Rao. He was reacting to Eenadu’s group’s allegation that he was giving away land to his followers and friends. He aid that he was ready to give 4,000 acres of land at Ambavaram at the rate of Rs. 9,000 per acre. He wanted to know if Ramoji Rao was ready to construct an airport there.
Saloni, who all of a sudden comes into limelight with her ‘Maryada Ramanna’ movie, is currently doing only one film ‘Telugammayi.’ Despite her efforts, she couldn’t bag any new films in the recent times. Hence, she got doubt that whether she was not getting the offers only because of her decent image as ‘Telugammayi.’ Therefore, she comes to media and announced that she is ready for exposing. However, she said there will be certain limits. She is ready to do exposing if there is no vulgarity in the concept. However, she didn’t forget to add the tag line to her statement - ‘If the story demands she can do it,’ which means she is ready for bikinis and lip-locks, but her only condition is story should demand for it. Of course our Tollywood directors and producers understand what she means.
After all, who wants to stay behind in the glamour race!
The Madras High Court has granted an interim injunction and against the shooting of Vijay’s Azhagiya Tamizh Magan on a petition filed by Mohammed Farooq alias Raja of Grand Creations . The court also ordered issue of notice to Jeeva, story writer and producer ‘Swargachitra’ Appachan claiming rights over the story of the film.
Raja says that he and S.K Jeeva, who now claims to be the writer of the film had jointly written the script under the name 'Guru-Prasad' and wanted to produce it with Vijay. Later Jeeva narrated the story to Vijay who liked it and asked director Bharathan and producer Swargachitra Appachan to make it into a film.
However Raja found that without his knowledge, Jeeva had sold it to Appachan. He approached the Tamil Film Producers Council where the producer and writer promised him Rs 5 lakhs as compensation. They paid Rs 1 lakh and refused to pay the balance, and were trying to complete the shoot and release it by August 15.
So Raja approached the Madras High court, who has granted a stay on the shoot, production and distribution of the film for the next four weeks.
After the huge success of Sivaji, A R Rahman is back with another Tamil album, a rarity these days. Naturally much hope has been pinned on the music score for Azhagiya Tamizh Magan (ATM) starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who is described as the heir to the 'Super Star'. Interestingly, the heroine of this film is also Shriya, Rajni's heroine in Sivaji.
Bogged down by heavy financial setbacks, Malayalam film producer Sargachithra Appachan has turned to Tamil films for a lifeline. Azhagiya Tamizh Magan with Vijay as the hero marks his foray into Tamil filmdom.
The maverick composer himself has lent his voice to the opening number introducing the hero Ellapugazhum. The piece which is also the title track has lyrics by Valee who draws inspiration from Vijay's sobriquet Ilaya Dalapathy. The lyrics project not a larger than life of the protagonist but a logical and believable one. The smooth flow of Ballaielakka in Sivaji is missing here. The forceful chorus as a parallel track gives it added energy. Still instrumental pyrotechniques and Rahman's powerful and aggressive rendition changing the pitch and timbre make this a track suitable for the palate of today's youth and die-hard Vijay fans.
It is a pity that the gifted Rahman has also fallen into the remix trap. Ponmagal Vanthal is a remix of the popular song, Ponmagan Vanthan, written by Alangudi Somu and rendered by veteran singer T M Sounderarajan (from the film, Sorgam, a Sivaji Ganesan-starrer in 1970). Rendered by Benny Dayel and Ujjayinee, this track with modern sound designs like rap and English lyrics, is the only jarring note in this otherwise rocking number.
The following Nee Marilyn Monroe has all the potential to be a sure-shot chartbuster. Arranged in Western style the number begins and ends in a light-hearted manner with giggling and pleasing alapana by Ujjayinee. The fire in Ujjayinee's voice is perfect foil for Benny Dayel's nasal twang. Na Muthukumar's lyrics like one day mattum girl-friend aaga varaya? (Will you be my girlfriend for just one day?) project the ephemeral nature of modern day love.
Nee nadaswaram pola vandha (valayappatti) by Naresh Iyer, Ujjayinee and Madhumitha is fast paced yet melodious. The lenghthy swara spells give it a classical touch. Naresh Iyer's fast paced rendition in full steam is well complemented by the teasing and playful velvetty vocals of Ujjayinee and Madhumitha. Kudos to Na Muthukumar for his lyrics; simple and full of quaint imagery.
Kelamal kayyile by Sriram Parthasarathy and Sainthavi is another melodious number in the same genre as Nee nadaswaram pola vandha with a Hindusthani touch in certain places. The song has an old world charm. Thamarai's lyrics are as usual oozing with soft sentiments. But deployment of various instruments make the lyrics get drowned and lose clarity.
Rahman signs off with Madhuraikku pogathadee by Benny Dayel, Archith and Darshana, a song and dance scenario with the newlyweds being received into the family. It is a folk number with fast rhythm and splendid chains of nadaswaram sallies. Pa Vijay's lyrics are simple yet remarkable with many layers of meaning; the lass is warned against going to Madhurai because the jasmine flowers there will cast eyes on her! Is there a more subtle way to describe a girl's beauty?
2008/6/3 8:54:56 With the by polls out of the way, the attention has now turned on the coming assembly elections. The prospect of Chiranjeevi launching his party also seems to be a reality now.
Jeevitha and Rajashekar are in the limelight ever since some supporters of Chiranjeevi attacked them for their comments on Chiru and his soon to be launched party.
Jeevitha has been more vocal than Rajashekar in this issue. There is even some talk that she is now ready to take a plunge into active politics.
Jeevitha is ready to take on even Chiranjeevi in the elections. She is ready to contest against Chiranjeevi as the congress party candidate. The prospect of such a duel is what the news hungry media needs.
All these things point out to some very exciting times ahead for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
2011/11/9 3:20:02 TRS which owes to swipe-off Congress and TDP from Telangana region seems to be sticks to its promise. Already four MLAs from TDP and three from Congress party have joined TRS party during the recent times. Of late, four more names have surfaced from TDP who are ready to scrap the 'Cycle' and ready to take lift from TRS 'Car' any time from now. Although, the four MLAs Suddala Devayya, Jaipal Yadav, C Ramulu and Hanmanth Shinde are condemning the news and assuring to stick to mother party, media sniffed something fishy in their movements. Most probably, we may hear something interesting in a day or two about these migrations from TDP. If it really happens, then it would be a big blow for TDP. It may create an embarrassing situation for Chandrababu Naidu, who is planning to tour across Telangana districts from tomorrow onwards.
The first copy of Prema Charithra with Yashwant, Suhasini and Madhu Sharma in lead roles and Krishna and Nagababu in key roles is ready. H Madhusudhan has directed the film on Amba Movies banner. The film is a love story and the film has also completed censor formalities and is ready for release in July.
With hardly two weeks left for the Vishu releases, curiosity is growing about the blockbusters that are going to hit the theatres. And consequently the industry has started to get its Onam releases ready. Atleast three big films are getting ready for Onam this year. Nasraani is the name of the film that will bring director Joshi together with Ranjit. Mammootty is playing the role of a Christian man. The film's shooting begins in June and will be ready for an Onam release.
Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Pooja star in director Shafi's Chocolate. Towards the end of April, the film's shooting will begin. Vaishak Films will release this one. Mohanlal has a series of films that will be ready for release by Onam. For the time being however, competition is on between Mohanlal's Chota Mumbai and Mammooty's Big B. Both the films are going to be released in another few days.
Just when Salman Khan, Anees Bazmee, Bhushan Kumar and Co. have raised the ante for READY, especially during the last fortnight, a mega drive by Shahrukh Khan and Anubhav Sinha for RA.ONE kick-started early this week. The theatrical promo of the superhero action flick is being unveiled across the country and though Shahrukh may argue that it would be too small on anyone's part to even think of a conspiracy theory here, some are led to believe that it was perhaps all designed to steal the thunder from Salman's READY.
"Why are some out there even speculating on these lines and trying to make a controversy when there isn't any," fires away Anubhav Sinha who feels it is unnecessary to read anything between the lines for this episode.
However one does wonder whether Shahrukh and Anubhav were blissfully unaware about the fact that their inter-city drive would eat into the business interests of READY?
CHECK OUT: Shahrukh to be seen with Salman's girlg
"I guess it is quite backward on the part of anyone to think that if someone else's film doesn't work then it could help yours or vice versa," says Anubhav in a stern tone, "The new age business model doesn't work like that; in fact it would have never worked even in the past. Makers of READY are my dear friends and I wish them all the luck."
In fact he also attended the special screening of the Salman Khan starrer on Wednesday night.
"I hope READY goes on to bigger business than the best that Bollywood has seen so far. Well, until we arrive with RA.ONE," chuckles Anubhav before signing off.
Director Rohit Shetty may have pulled a casting coup of sorts by roping in arch-rivals Asin and Genelia D’Souza for his next venture Bol Bachchan.
Whatever reason may have prompted the move, the director is sure preparing himself to ward off many nervous moments when he will have to bear heat of the rivalry.
An industry source says, “It’s a known fact that Asin and Genelia are the closest competitors down South. So it won’t be wrong to expect fireworks when the two are pitted against each other in the same film.”
While Genelia has been in Bollywood for much longer, it’s Asin who has had huge hits like Ghajini and Ready to her credit.
Although down South, Genelia’s a big name who was also the original Ready girl. The rivalry between the two took a dramatic turn when Asin refused to see Genelia’s film to prepare for Ready citing that she didn’t need to.
However, when quizzed about the rivalry, Asin rubbished it. “It’s all in the mind of outsiders, but within the industry it’s just healthy competition,” she says.
No Asin, the audience is not “ready” to believe that.
2010/10/6 13:17:39 Tollywood beauty Asin who bounces back from Bollywood to south wearing a black face, is once again dreaming to give a grand re-entry into Bollywood with her latest movie ‘Ready.’ This is the Telugu remake of Ram and Genelia starrer movie Ready. Asin is pairing with Salman Khan in this movie. She pinned all her hopes on this movie since she badly needs a hit for her re-entry. This film is produced by Bhushan Kumar of T series and directed by Anin Bajmi.
